I made the 112 mile round trip last night. Was extremely disappointed. I thought Bob B. was picking up the tab and soon after getting our food, he ups and disappears! Waddaschmuck!

Otherwise, had a good time talking to folks and telling lies. The food was good, reasonably priced, plenty of it, and good seating arrangements.

As I was leaving, the Prince of Darkness struck and my headlights wouldn't work. Jeff, Bruce and Jerry (?) and I messed around trying to determine the problem. Someone mentioned trying my hi beams, and voilla, let there be light. For some reason, my stalk mounted dimmer switch was stuck in between hi and lo. I'd been clicking it, without the lights on, the other day, and obviously goofed it up. Not sure, but think ERA uses old style Jag or MG dimmer switches so maybe it inherited Lucas gremlins. Anyway, thanks for all the help and I was glad I didn't need to call AAA. Probably wouldn't have gotten home until midnight, if I had. I'm trying to take every advantage to drive the car during this great weather so went around the West leg of the 101, which added an additional 12 miles to my trip, but it was well worth it. I'm thinking I'll have to try to get to the Tuesday thingy a few more times before hot weather comes. Will try maybe the 17 next time. Might hopefully be better than the 101 up through Scottsdale.

Karl,
Glad you made it to dinner and that your car lit your way home. As for coming up the 17, it stinks during rush hour and I only do it if I have to. But it is doable.

When I was working on the east side I would avoid the 17 going north during slow hour. I worked at 32nd and McDowell. I would go up the 51 to the 101. Much faster.

I'm thinking I want to avoid west bound 101 by the 51 since I also had lots of slowing after that, as well as the Scottsdale construction mess. Maybe the 51 to Bell and just put up with Bell' s traffic. Don't know.

Karl,
That may be faster as the interchange from 51 to 101 backs up big-time, especially now that they are putting in the new interchange.

I would jump off the 51 on Greenway instead of Bell.

Karl et al, now you know why I'm not a regular at the Tuesday night dinner, a real hassle going West that time of the day.

Trouble is all you olde farts want to eat at 5pm! I only went to the old 5 and Diner meets a few times because getting out of the shop and through the traffic (51/101) was miserable that time of day. Change it to 7 and things will be much easier.

Of course that may be past some your bedtimes.

I agree...move the time up or back. Save a lot of time in car stuck in traffic. Think I will try and make this as well.

I will point out the gang seems to arrive at multiple times now and lasts a couple of hours or more as a rule. This is all damn informal and reminds me of a heard of cats, make that type A cats ...LOL. If a change in start time would bring more of us together on a regular basis then speak up and commit to showing up.

If the time went to 7, you'd probably lose Daddy BobB since it would get into his beddy-by time. I don't venture to that part of the world very often so don't know that delaying my travel time to starting at 6, would make much of a difference. ??

I would show up more often if it wasn't so damn far away.

Do we still segregate by sexes (and political affiliation) at the new location?

We all sat together, held hands and sang "Kumbaya." You are welcome to join us. There was only 1 female so no separation explored.
