Tombstone / Bisbee Run
Benny called from SoCal and wants to do a joint run with his group in October to Tombstone and Bisbee, staying in Bisbee, probably at The Copper Queen. This might be in conflict with our Coronado Trail Run. Maybe we can do both. What do you guys think ? I'm up for it, and would do both runs. :D
I'd be ok for that if I don't have any family commitments for the date of the drive.
We are up for that run and the Coronado also. The twisties are great and I can have more scotch!
I'm in for down south if it's on a Friday-Saturday-Sunday run.
Hellyessss.
sounds good
Thinkin' Friday night in Bisbee, Saturday night in Springerville? Sounds like an outstanding long weekend!
Sounds like an idea.. kind of warm but maybe not too bad...
10/7,8,9 or 10/14,15 ,16 should not be too hot or too cold at altitude.
So you want to combine both into 1 weekend run. I like that even more. :MECOOL:

No way I would do both trips in one weekend.
Plus the south trip is for joining the Cali guys. Let's keep them separate, we don't do enough runs to begin with. BTW, I wasn't suggesting a 3 day run in my past post, I was trying to say if it's on a Friday or a Saturday or a Sunday I'm in. |
Sure sounds like a three day run to me. Kind of tough to go from Phoenix to Bisbee to Tombstone and back to Phoenix in one or even two days.. Hour and a half to Tucson. Another hour and a half to Tombstone and 40 minutes to Bisbee. Sounds like at least two days..

Didn't know if this was from the "tall Dan" or the "less than tall Dan". HA I'm thinking that getting an early start on a Friday morning, we could get to Tombstone before noon. Really, I've found it stretching a bit to spend more than 2-3 hours there. We could get to Bisbee in a half hour, and we'd have the majority of the afternoon and evening to explore the town and its saloons and what not. Its about a three hour drive from Bisbee to Morenci, then a couple hours to Hannigan's meadow, for a one o'clock <> lunch. Then only about an hour to Springerville. Even tacking on an hour or two for potty stops and all, we'd be in Springerville for plenty of parking lot, lie and brag, before slipping out for some din-din. I think it would be just fine to have some of our Western neighbors come along and enjoy our merry gang. Seems we can't get all that many folks interested in going on our runs and the more the....well, you know. Please let me know if I'm missing something in the very tentative itinerary, or PM me with any concerns. |
Well, we seem to have a major topic of conversation at the picnic tomorrow. The Dan's can explain.

From my house to Bisbee is 230 miles. Bisbee to Eagar is 289 miles. (Idaho Rd to Eagar is 295 miles.) Eagar to home is 234 miles. All normal cobra cruise trip days. Within reason but would require 2 nights in motels. Dates no good for me but would make a great 3 day trip. Have to depart Friday morning.

Fut da wuk you mean the dates don't work for U? Going on another three hour cruise with Thurston and the professor?

Let's see. From to San Diego to PHX is how many hours? If this is to join up with Cali guys keep in mind they have to get here first. Oh, I think no one here wanted to join the Rat Boy in driving to SD to meet up with the Cali guys there. If the Cali guys come here don't tell them how far it is.....they will know.
I think Mike and D-Ratti have great points- This discussion started because the SD guys approached Scotty about doing a Southern Az trip...
We should probably let them chime in on how many hours/miles per day they would be interested in covering. Likewise, The Coronado trail run seems like an annual October tradition for this group, and so the prospect of a joint run with the SD guys shouldn't alter this group's Coronado plans. If the target Coronado weekend is locked in, then we should share those dates with the SD guys and say "this weekend is Coronado - you guys can come over and join us on that run, or we can pick a different weekend to do Bisbee" If the schedules still end up overlapping, then I guess people could simply choose to run with one group, or the other... But honestly, the early October Coronado weekend is just the BEGINNING of prime driving season - there will be 7 more weekends after that (leading up to Thanksgiving) where we could book a 2nd weekend with the Cali guys... Karl, member when I said I plan up to a year ahead? I am committed to another Front Sight Defensive Handgun Training course and will be gone from Oct 9th thru the 14th.
By the way, Robert Moore makes sense here for separate runs. Bisbee is really a SoCal Club run and we were invited. AZ Bob |
