RB, don't blame you for getting rid of your SW speedo. Mine was a POS. The odometer miles never flipped until almost to the next integer and the speed would fluctuate from dead on to 10% fast, when compared to my Garmin GPS. Fortunately, all the other SW gauges have been fine.

Just spend the money and get rid of that top loader. Your engine will thank you for it.

Nah, that ain't happenin... To do a 5 speed correctly, I'd also have to swap the rear gears.

With the 28 inch rear tires and the 3.31's, My car runs great with the 4 speed. 80mph is only 3200rpm (according to my phone's GPS, not this crappy SW speedo. According to the speedo, 3200rpm is anywhere from 72mph, to 86mph, )... 90 is only 3800. I can run around town all day in 3rd... 4th gear actually behaves like overdrive in my car.

Frankly, all the concerns I originally had about the 4 speed were gone as soon as I stepped up from the 295/50 rear tires to the 275/60's....The 60's also look better on my car, more old school (JMHO )

The only thing a 5 speed and a rear gear change would net me is another required upshift at 35-ish mph, and I'm too lazy to spend all my time shifting gears (HAH- I'm starting to sound like Broberg ).

Right now I can cover 0-60 in first, and let my left foot take a nap until it's time for 2nd...
