Looks pretty bad.

What Trans? Did they give you root cause?

You have 2 broken parts shown. What are they and did one take out the other?

Thanks

Good. What about the new car? When can we expect to see that?

The trans was a AOD ,with 2500 stall and full lock up and a fully reworked valve body, hold any gear. With push button to disengage the OD. It was the main pump shaft and main shaft and the one that has no gears left was the lock up gear on toque convertor ,they said they never seen anything like this ,,the trans was built for 600tq ---500hp. I was into my first year of my 3 year warranty ,I will take it easy ...( for a week)

Al, when Danr first showed me the pics a couple weeks back, I thought it was a Saleen, but it's actually a Superlite, right...?

Cool new car! Wow!

That smaller diameter shaft looks like a classic torsion failure. Assuming it was not a material defect or overloaded, it may have been a fatigue failure due to some sort of high frequency torque oscillation but hard to understand what may have caused that. Hope the next one holds up!

Hard to tell root cause on rotating shafts. The broken parts rub together and this often destroys much of the evidence.

One does look like high torque based upon the 45 degree failure. The other could be stress concentration due to a small radius at the transition between the shaft and gear. However type of material or heat treatment could also be a cause.

Since your trans can hold each gear, this may have contributed to the failure but not the root cause. Suggest you let the auto do it's own shifting for a while.

Did they harden the new parts so this will not happen again. I recall that is why it took them a while to rebuild. Makes sense. Have you had time to install?

Hey Al, we're going to be fairly close to your home base tomorrow, why don't you join the group for lunch.
If you can't make it, send your wife, I miss her!
