Default Brunch Run Saturday Oct. 21

Since I worked so hard to set up the Coronado Trail Run and didn't get to go, I'm working just as hard to set up a make up run on Saturday QOt. 21 for lunch at Lupe's at Oracle Junction. Leave the Chevron station at us 60 and Idaho Rd nice and early on Saturday at say 10:30 and run to Superior. Turn south toward Winkleman on 177 to the intersection at 77. We can add fuel and use pottys as necessary. Proceed right (west) on Az 77 and run to just past the intersection at Az 79 (Florence hwy) to Lupe's Cafe. Anyone from Tucson who wishes to join in can meet us in Winkleman. After Lupes, we can split up and either go back to Phoenix via I 10, Florence Hwy, or back to Tucson via best choice. Hope to see everyone on Saturday.

I'll probably be following in the Corvette. Mrs. Sweetness will be out of town and if she forgets and leaves the keys, I'll sneak the car out.

I'll bring gloves and bags to pick up the parts that fall off.

Well... No Lupe's run for my car.

I got it running right again (it turned out to be a misfire caused by a bad spark plug, of all things- a bad spark plug )

But, I noticed a shimmy in the steering during my test drive, and when I got under there to take a look I found that one of the big bronze bushings in my steering rack was all hogged out, and the rack was really loose inside there...

HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that an entire, brand new MGB steering rack for my car was only $220, including shipping. I was all puckered up, expecting it to be $600-$800.

So the new parts are ordered. Not happy that the car has to sit for another week or so, but VERY happy that I'm not broke, either.

The Cobra Gods are not my friends this year. I took the car out for a drive yesterday in preparation for tomorrows run. Got two miles from the barn and it began sputtering and smoking and bucking. Then it quit. I managed to get it started and limped home. I had a lunch date with some friends from California so did not have time to work on it yesterday. I'm going to try to find a distributor gear or a distributor today. If that does not work, I don't think we will make the make up run that Adriana and I were both looking forward to so much. I wonder if the Gods are trying to tell me something.??
