route 66 2019
We're about three and a half months out from the route 66 run for this year. I'm wondering if anybody in the club has made any effort to find a motel or make arrangements for us to stay in Kingman this year?
See Scotty's post below for hotel information. We only have 12 rooms held so call soon! |
At Tuesday's Burger Fest, Mikiec reported that the Hilltop Motel in Kingman, is still a total mess. Bob mentioned that he'd read that it's owners were in bankruptcy so it's not an option. I'll do some digging to see if we can find someplace other than our usual since our last couple stays there were not so good. I'll report later. Of course if someone else has suggestions, let's hear them. Maybe Friday night in Williams?

Go for it Karl

Friday night in Williams. if you can PROMISE no snow!

Karl is correct. The Hill top is toast. It would take 2 years to get it into shape, if they started on it last year.
|
We always liked Williams before moving on following day to Kingman. Absolutely nothing to do there until next day. Can’t even watch the Suns as they are the worst Franchise in NBA right now. Williams has some nicer motels as well so you don’t have to watch the bugs crawl under your door.
It only snowed once right? I would be more worried about rain? unless you have a top. We would whip over from Flag too. |
Looks like Friday night in Williams will be more than most want to spend. Probably not going to get everyone together anyway. Should we pick one and see if discounts are available?
|
From looking at Travelocity, I'm seeing higher prices than a lot of folks aren't wild about, but I'm also thinking that talking to the property directly, could get better prices. Do think an idea of just how many rooms needed would help in negotiations.
I'll talk to some places in Williams for the Friday night and then in Kingman for Saturday night. Remember.... IT'S A SPORTS CAR DAMMMMMIT |
I’ll go wherever we end up.
FYI: I had no issues with Red Roof Inn. Mark |
Another thought, if you do one night and one night there, you probably will have a hard time getting good rates, due to it being a high demand weekend in Kingman.

About 3 years ago I stayed at the Ashfork Motel the first night and the regular hangout the next night. As I recall it was $39.99, not much to do but no bugs either! %/
Raphael, who likes spending $$$ more on beer than motel rooms! :3DSMILE: |
Dan,
How much of the old Route 66 is left now? I remember when I was a kid we traveled it from California to back East and it was an interesting drive with the diners and Indians selling things along the way. Maybe not as fast as todays freeways but a lot more fun. Ron |
Here is the part of Route 66 that is used on the annual Fun Run event: https://goo.gl/maps/5xCfxVwweNr

Route Roof Inn / Route 66 / May 3-4
I just talked to Sheetal at the Red Roof Inn. Sheetal is Sunny's son, and the one we will deal with. He has blocked off 12 rooms, and you need to let him know by February 2nd, if you want to stay there.
Nights of May 3 & 4 1 Queen $$90.61 per night ( includes all fees and taxes ) 1 King, or 2 Queens - $101.94 per night (including fees and taxes) I've already reserved my King. Sheetal reserved 11 other rooms, and is limited on the type available. Sheetal Patel : (657)237-9600 spatel@s2-mi.com :D |
Got mine. And it was GOOD!
|
We booked our room. $89.99 + tax.
|
Got my room right in between Scotty & Karl.
AZ Bob |
