Default New Valves for my FE!

Unfortunately they are just a little big...my son bought me this for my birthday...it’s a new original stock intake valve for a Wright Cyclone R-1820 radial engine. These are the engines used in the B-17’s in WWII.

Face diameter is approx. 3.060”.

Beautifully made part....and HEAVY!

That might fit in 405 Doc's 959ci mountain NOS motor on Street Outlaws.
You building a B-17 Kit Plane?

Looks just like the intake valves I used when I built my 7000Hp nitro methane Craftsman lawn tractor...

My neighbors all thought I was crazy.

Careful with those. They may be sodium core valves

The R1820 had a displacement of 1823 cubic inches. Bore of 6.125” and stroke of 6.875” (9 cylinders). So about 3.78 times the displacement of my 482. Valve area is 1.85 x that of my FE valves. I don’t know the valve lift but I doubt it is more than 2x the FE and the duration is probably less. So in very rough terms of breathing the valves actually seem a little undersize esp considering peak power was made at 2000 rpm. However these engines had supercharging so quite a bit higher intake charge density. 1000 hp at 2000 rpm.

Only the exhaust valves were sodium filled.
