NM for me. Much higher speeds and fewer pesky mountain sides.

Steve, two choices:

Up the Coronado Trail from Morenci/Clifton to Hannigan's Meadow then Springerville/Eager
or
Clifton to NM 180 up to Alpine then Springerville/Eager

Good but different things to be said for both routes.

The Trail: 119 miles with 460 turns, many posted 10MPH, and mean it. Lots of scenery for a passenger but the driver should maybe not be too interested Really big fun,

180 in NM still has lots of curves but more sweeping, much higher speed. My choice, but, I've a bit of less than stellar history on the Trail run.

Steve, two choices:
#1
Clifton/Morenci up the Coronado Trail to Hannigan's Meadow then Eager/Springerville
119 miles, 460 turns, many posted 10MPH, and mean it. Excellent scenery for a passenger but the driver may not want to get distracted
#2
Clifton then NW to 180N. in NM, up to Alpine and Eager/Springerville
Still plenty of turns and elevation changes, just more sweeping and higher speed. It's my choice, but then, I've not had the best of luck on the trail

You should certainly do The Trail, if you never have. After driving it a few times, perhaps give the NM route a try for a different type of fun. My 2¢

My girlfriend and I want to go on this run, and a couple questions:

The Best Western is sold out - any recommendations on another hotel?

Where is the run starting from on Saturday, and what time?

We will be coming from Cottonwood on Friday and will want to spend that night close to Saturday's starting point.

Any help is appreciated!

Ralph

Ralph, did you speak directly with the motel or corporate booking desk? If you spoke directly, did you mention that you were going to be with the Cobra group? I don't know, but this might make a difference. The group used to stay at the America's Best Value Inn but last year, a couple of the folks had bad experiences there so the switch Best Western was made.
The Saturday morning meeting place is a Chevron station at Idaho Rd and Rt 60. I'm sure there are a few decent motels within a few miles.
Good luck. Hope you can make it.

I spoke to Tana and she indicated that all rooms at the hotel are currently booked. She suggested I check back with her in several months to see if any rooms have opened up.

I did make a reservation at America's Best Value Inn, but would be curious to know what were the bad experiences, as I can cancel the reservation and choose another hotel.

I will find a place for Friday night close to the starting point.

Thanks for the help!

Ralph
