I noticed that a 2006 Ford 40 GT recently sold on Bring a Trailer for $380K! Definitely a nice car with only 4000 miles but SCHEEEEESCH! That's at least $100K more than the vast majority of the '05s and '06 having sold on BAT, Maybe it was the "Gulf" colors?

I should have that disposable cash!

The only thing more astonishing than that particular vehicle's pricing Karl, is the price of replacement parts — even those at the proletariat level like trim pieces. They will bring a scream of anguish and a double sheesh.

I guess you haven't been watching the Ford GT for the past decade. Prices started climbing about 8 years ago and have steadily increased since. The Heritage (Gulf) demands a premium over the others, and low (delivery) miles of any car get a huge premium.

I sold my Heritage car at Barrett Jackson last October for 295K (less 8%). I didn't make any money over what I paid for it given the costs of registration, insurance, etc for 7 years.

I think that prices are generally headed downward. The BAT car was an anomaly in the past few months.

I sold mine because I couldn't drive it any more - bad back and neck - and it was starting to "rot" into the garage floor. SPARE PARTS ARE (1) BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AND (2) COST A SMALL FORTUNE. Dealer services are impossible since the Ford GT trained mechanics are almost all gone now. Simple things that used to be reasonably priced, e.g., my first oil change was under $100, now cost 5x that (yes, when I priced it in the winter of 2019 it was $500, and the oil is cheap). I did it myself in 45 minutes.

Headlights cost $5K, if you can find one, there is now a year wait. Body panels, e.g., front fender cost 20K, the rear clamshell more than most cars (if there are any left). Parts regularly go on allocation - the trunk and clamshell struts that used to cost about $20 each are now close to 100 and on backorder for an indefinite period.

You have to show registration and insurance (ie, ownership) to buy parts. SOme unscrupulous people were buying out common parts and selling them when shortages happen for 2x MSRP or more.

GAUGES FAIL! Ford/Autometer design flaw. Someone made a complete dash bezel and gauge replacement but Autometer stepped up and made a different design of the small guages. Large gauges (speedo and tach) are still Ford (which will eventually fail too) or the whole dash replacement.

Last shortage is backorder of oil pump (it's a dry sump) belt... This situation is only going to start happening to more common parts and more frequently.

The only up side is that it's a f*n Ford, and simple to work on yourself. But then you have to be able to get parts...

I wouldn't recommend buying one. Buy a McLaren instead.

From the beginning Heritage has been a 70-100K adder. It's odd because there were fewer silver and yellow cars. Nonetheless, the Gulf color scheme stirs memories... Noone understood why mine got so little. Then it went directly from BJ Vegas to Mecum Florida where it sold with only 2 more miles for barely enough to break even on BJ-buyer-premium + Mecum-seller-premium.

By the way, this is more in line with current pricing overall. Two years ago that car would have gotten close to 350K or more.

By the way, it's just "Ford GT". No 40. That's reserved for the originals. Ford couldn't get the right to GT40 with Safir so just called it Ford GT.

If people don't like them or don't want to upkeep them they shouldn't own one. The cost and upkeep of a McLaren is far higher than a 2005 Ford GT, just ask any of the McLaren guys than own even 4-5 year old Mclarens, let alone the new ones. Bottom line is that the exotics are being built to make it difficult if not impossible for most people to do their own service and they make their margins on the service at ridiculous rates but it goes along with buying any car in that price range. Otherwise it is better to own just another Mustang

Until we have a live attended auction again I don't think we can judge the market. Scottsdale 2020 showed(Before the 10% premium) several 2005-2006 Ford Gt sell at $300-320kk and a gulf sell for $400k, a tungsten Vin #3 2005 sell for $400k. I see the market prices for NGT dropping far faster than the 2005-2006 Ford GT
