Default Saturday 11/14 9AM Salt River Canyon

Hi Everyone,
Karl and I are going through Salt River Canyon Saturday.

Depart Chevron Idaho Road and I-60 9AM.
Fuel stop Speedway in Globe.
Stop at bottom of Salt River Canyon, for facilities.
About 4 miles past the bottom, stop at Becker Butte Lookout for a picture, turn around, and head back.
Guayo's El Rey in Miami for lunch.
Final stop: Circle K Superior for fuel.

Let me know here, if you will be meeting us at Chevron.

Thanks,
Mark

I like that drive although never did it in a Cobra and the last time was probably 1977

Have a great time!

Tony, the road is much better than in '77. Lots of either 4 lane or at least passing lanes make it easy to do some nice swooping curves at considerably better than the "suggested" speed limits. Or, so I've heard....

Oh yeah I suppose it's been improved. (The definition of improved may vary )

Back then it was not much more than a paved county road cut into the edge of the mountain, much of the downhill side without guard rails.

We had a nice little run up the Salt River Canyon to Becker Butte Lookout. The weather couldn't have been better, wasn't even hot when I got back to the valley. Only thing that could have been better was if there wasn't as much traffic on the freeway driving all the way back to Cave Creek. Guess the snow birds have arrived.

We stopped at Becker Butte Lookout about 4 miles past the bottom. I got a few nice pictures, but Club Cobra isn't uploading them. I'll try again later.
I'll put them on AZ Cobras/Facebook.
