John, Registration is required IF you want to be in the car show and eligible to win a class trophy. You'll also receive a tee shirt and some sort of "goodie bag". The fee is a little steep but all goes to cover costs. All the labor is done by volunteers so there's no "administrative' costs.

NoVA Cobra 04-13-2022 11:33 AM

OK - registered for goodies. I think we'll head to Topock on Sunday, then head down thru Havasu to check that out before onto Parker, 72 then I10. Of course - never been to it all.

Can I say I can pickup my packet in Kingman by Fri at 4? Or should I pick Seligman Sat AM?

Where would you like to obtain your registration packet?
In Kingman - Friday, April 29 at the Powerhouse Visitor Center (between 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM only)
In Seligman - Friday, April 29 from Noon to 5:00 PM
In Seligman - Saturday April 30 from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM

I just got off the phone with Gary stubbs. He called Red roof inn in Kingman to confirm reservations for route 66 run. He was told that our reservations are still in place but that everybody should call and confirm and provide a credit card number if they haven't already. Otherwise the rooms are going to be giving away since the hotel is overbooked. Forewarned is fore armed.

John & Julie, if you have never been on the route, I suggest your do the WHOLE thing. Friday, pickup your package in Seligman with our group, Saturday, return the 75 miles to Seligman and depart with the other 800 cars at 10am. Visit several stops along the way such as the Grand Canyon Caverns, Peach Springs, Valentine, and Hackberry. Of course, you could visit them on Friday too. Then, proceed to car show in Kingman from 2-5 (might be 3-5.) Next morning, Sunday, join all others at west end of car show area and complete the run to Topok with must do stop in Oatman. You can come away with a trophy in Topok. You will know on Saturday after the judging by headlight sticker color.
I've been on the run every year since 2003, so us old times take a different approach.
Normally our AZCOBRA group will eat together Friday and Saturday nights, and all stay together at the same motel. I would advise joining us for the drive Friday.

OK GOOD. Thanks, Bob. Glad I asked. Since we're staying at Red Roof Kingman, I wasn't sure of the plans exactly. Our newbie plan is to tag along with the group entirely.

So I understand - we'll drive up Friday to Seligman to get the packet, then head to Kingman for the nite - with dinner somewhere. Back to Seligman Sat AM to join for cruise back to Kingman and the afternoon show.

WOW - lots of back/forth, but I guess experience dictates. You guys certainly like to put the miles on! Hope the kidneys hold up.

Another question. This is a car show weekend - is there access to a hose or water outside hotel - or somewhere? Lots of bugs to wipe off I'm sure.

KarlzEE Bebout 04-13-2022 03:18 PM

John, plan on LOTS of dust, especially at the car show. The railroad track run parallel to the show and there are LOTS of choo chooz raising bunches of dust. And, Kingman is usually very windy, to boot.

The Saturday ride from Seligman will take hours. There will be a whole lot of cars in the caravan, going very slowly.

In talking with Scotty, we decided we will be bringing a little portable BBQ grill and cooking out in the parking lot, probably both nights. If anyone else is interested in such a thing, now you know. We're not making it a pot luck thingy, just something different.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-13-2022 07:31 PM

Thanks anyway Karl, I'm happy with Arby's & Pizza Hut.

KarlzEE Bebout 04-14-2022 10:38 AM

Bob, I was just telling what Scotty and I are planning. If anyone wants to do the same, they can bring whatever they want for themselves.:)

Danr55 04-14-2022 03:17 PM

Karl brings up an interesting question... as usual! Has anyone made arrangements for dinner on Friday night or are we going to do a "everyone go their own way" thing? I also presume we are still doing pizza on Saturday night? It's not the same group it was 10 years ago so perhaps presumptions are not appropriate. Please advise.

Hi all - been getting ready for the trip - finally replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, new brake pads, wipers, and new set of tires n wheels. I now need an alignment ASAP. Any recommendations? thanks

KarlzEE Bebout 04-21-2022 08:44 AM

Jack's Alignment 2902 East Thomas 602-956-7610
They actually know how to align without just keying the car model into a computer. I'm sure that if you don't have the needed specs, you can find them on line.

Thanks, Karl. Just found this for Superformance mkIII...sounds reasonable.

Rear Wheels

I just had Network do my FFR and everything seems to be running fine. They did a good job. ( and Juan did a great job rebuilding the front end for me!)

Here is the updated plan for the Westside “Fun Run” Departure:

No Fire Restrictions, so far, so no change to the route: Wickenburg, Yarnell, Prescott and Chino Valley.
We welcome any of you to join us.

I'll be there. :)

NoVA Cobra 04-24-2022 06:54 PM

Sounds like a plan. We're the newbies - we're just going along for the ride - you guys have the experience.

KarlzEE Bebout 04-24-2022 09:37 PM

John, there is a slim possibility that there MAY be some alcohol involved during the "Lie and brag" sessions out in the motel parking lot. :)
