Default AZ COBRA 2022 Picnic 04/09/22

Saturday, April, 09, 2022
9am-2pm-ish

SAGUARO LAKE. Take the Beeline from Fountain Hills, towards Payson. Exit onto Bush Hwy, go +-4mi South to the lake's marina entrance. Bear left at guard shack, continue to end of road.

All cars need a Tonto National Forest Day Pass--OR--display your Senior Pass for National Parks and Recreational Lands. Senior Passes have gone well up in price, but over time, are still a good deal. Many gas stations, drug stores, etc sell the day passes and there is a vending machine, at the guard shack that sells them. The lifetime passes are available at US Forestry/Ranger stations.

I'll provide paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware, charcoal/lighter, table covers, grill tools, Mustard, Ketchup, Onions, Mayo, Relish, and of course, Jalapenos
Please bring your "protein" and a side dish or desert to share, your liquid of choice, chairs, and what ever.
Here's hoping for another good turnout. There are currently no restrictions published and I hope it stays that way.

I don't think I can go. It's would still be tax season.

The USGS site has the Ineragency passes. (This might include the Senior Passes)
(National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Passes)

The new Veteran passes are available and I just ordered mine.
The total charge is $10.
https://store.usgs.gov/MilitaryPass

Tonto's site says :
Quote:
The government has established the America the Beautiful -- the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Program (national interagency pass) that allows the public to access some fee areas without additional charge. This is very convenient and cost effective when traveling to several sites that charge an entrance fee.

I found navigating the USGS sight awkward but the checkout was easy.

I was partially wrong on the USGS passes.

I got my Military pass yesterday and it is the Annual pass.
The "new" passes would be a "lifetime" pass according to the site. They're behind on getting those issued.

We got our free Park Service passes when we crossed 65. Prices have gone up since then.

NoVa John, everyone brings their own "protein" and beverage and a side of some sort to share. I'll provide plasticware, plates, napkins, cups, condiments, charcoal, lighter fluid, grill tools, trash bags. Remember your park pass and chairs.
C U There.

What a nice day for a little picnic. Think there were 6 Cobras and 3 JAFMs. Everybody had plenty to eat and the weather was outstanding with plenty of sunshine and a nice breeze.
thanks to everyone that joined in.
