Aussey Rep joins Arizona Cobras to DVSFII !!
Yep ! that's right, I have invited Craig Marsh (750HP) to
join us in our trek to the Fling. I sent him an e mail telling
him that he is welcome to join us on our caravan to the Fling.
I explained that if the GT40 was done by then that he was
welcome to drive my Cobra to the fling. If not he will be
sharing the driving in the Cobra with me. He has excepted the
invite and I look forward to his visit. All the details of his arrival
are not yet known but he is going to come early so that we can
visit Gordon's shop and maybe to the Pavillions show on
Saturday.
We are still in the planning stages of the send off party on
monday the day before we leave. So stay tuned.
I'm really looking forward to his visit. I know we all are
going to have a blast !.
I still have one more room reserved if anyone else needs it.
Hersh
PS... Do they sell Fosters beer over here ?

Hersh,
That's really nice that you invited Craig to join you on your trip to Ohio, Please no beer for Craig. He had an accident last year that made him miss DVSFI.

Hersh,
That's Cool! Glad to hear Craig is making the trip with you.
I'll stay tuned to the route through Arizona so I can try to at least meet you for a visit somewhere along the way.

Hersch,
I'd talked to Craig a few days ago about your offer. He was ecstatic and actually shocked that someone offered up their Cobra for him to drive across the country!
I simply told him this kind of generosity from our little group didn't surprise me at all,...especially from you.
Now get that new car done! It's a must.
Dan, I told Craig the same thing! No beer, and no lifting anything heavier than pillow! No excuses or injury's this year!
What a way to see the good ol' U.S. of A.!

I hope Craig knows this is a great way to see the United States but a long way from Ohio. I think he should bring that pillow to put on the seat. I hope we put together a line so I can meet all these people like Craig and put faces to names. I hope to even see the Semkos again.

Hersh,
I wanted to shout from the rooftops about how happy I was to receive your email but I wasn't sure if you wanted everyone to know just yet. After word gets out about your extreme generosity, you'll probably get requests from all over the country for your "spare Cobra"
Fosters is OK, but I really should bring some XXXX beer (that's it's real name, it isn't just the forum editing a swear word...) It's the pick of our beers! There's a rum distillery in Queensland that makes a wonderful, smooth rum that you'll have to try as well.
CobraDan ... don't go scaring Hersh by mentioning accidents when we're talking about me driving his car!!! The accident wasn't driving related - just a little knee operation...
DV ... are you guys ganging up on me with the "no beer" sentiments!!! No need to worry, I'll have enough trouble staying on the right side of the road without using alcohol as an excuse How do you guys get used to changing gears with your right hand anyway???
After the disappointment of missing out on last year's Fling, I was determined not to miss out again. I was always excited about getting to Ohio to see perhaps 300+ Cobras, but driving over 2000 miles each way to get there just adds a whole new dimension to his holiday. To see that much of the U.S. is a wonderful opportunity, to do it in a Cobra is a dream come true!!!
Thanks again Hersh, you have no idea how many friends and family know all about my trip already. I've had the map of America laid out on the table for the last few days. I have the roads memorised, and Dad keeps singing "Get your kicks on Route 66...." whenever I mention the trip!
See you in a little under 4 months!
Craig

750HP,
I recommend total bed rest for the next 4 months, if you miss this one you will be sorry. The second SF has already doubled in size from last year. London, Ohio is planning on making their roads wider for more Cobras.

Craig,
It's all about fun. I was in Sydney in 1966. I was treated like a
prince. The Aussie atittude is incredible. And the hospitality
is unbeleivable. It has always stuck in my mind about their
carefree approach to things. I couldn't buy a drink or a
meal while I was there.
Mikie, the Mrs. may have to fly to the event. She was glad to
let Craig drive it. She can't push the clutch in because it's so
strong. Craig, I hope it's not your left knee and if it
is I hope it is well enough to use the clutch. It's a compitetion
type and does require a little more effort to get it down.
There are certain sections of old route 66 that is still intact
right next to I-40 that goes for miles. Mostly in New Mexico
and Texas.
You surely will enjoy this trip. I have made this trip three
times in a Cobra and dozens of times in other vehicles. I
see something new every trip.
Last year Me and Mike Foss had one of the best times you
could have on the road. We would stop at a drive in and get
a couple sandwiches to go then we would find a rest area or park and eat our lunch. It never fails that the cars drew attention.
People were getting out cameras and asking if they could
take their picture next to the car. Mike even let some
sit in his. (They liked his color better)
Every gas station and rest stop ensued a conversation about
the Cobras. So you better learn all you can about the car
cause if you're diving it then you get to answer all the
questions. And my car ain't easy to explain !
All of us Arizona Cobra guys can't wait to meet you and
show you a good time. We're thrilled that you are coming
along.
Hersh

Craig,
An early welcome to Arizona! Lots of Route 66 stretches of road remaining here and many in the eastern part of the state that will likely be running nearby to your route.
If you look closely, you may even see a Cheetah off in the distance.

Hersh - it is my left knee, but my old Cobra had a Hayes competition clutch that had such high pedal pressure that if I ever drove without my shoes on, the AC logo from the clutch pedal imprinted itself onto the sole of my foot My knee's not an issue now. Is your wife interested in sharing seat time between the GT and the Cobra, rather than flying in?
I have a map of America mounted on the wall at work now. Anyone that even casts a sideways glance at it gets the full story about how I'm driving a classic American sports car from "here" to "there". Some people just don't understand the idea of driving over 2000 miles to attend a car show, but it's so much more than that. Sure, I was planning on flying in anyway because 300+ Cobras gathering anywhere in the world is worth seeing, but throw in the fact that I can put faces to so many names that I've come to know through the forums, Team Jenny and the CF benefits..... and now THE COBRA CONVOY
Of all the long distance Cobra events that I've attended over here, I inevitably look upon the drive to and from the event as the highlight. Gettin' there is half the fun!!! To travel in a Cobra convoy across the US will eclipse any holiday experience that I've ever had!!!

Neal,
Is there something you're not telling us? Perhaps the
Cheetah is further along than we figured. Could it be that
it will be ready about the same time we leave for the Fling ?
Come on Neal, Fess up ! Are we gonna see a Cheeta in the far distance on route 66 ?

Mikief
The Autowelds are not in yet. Some Bozo, ME, installed the Upper Control arm bolts in the wrong direction. Need to get a sawsall to cut then out. Hopefully this weekend or next. The car is up on Jackstands now for some yearly maintenance. The Carb has been sent back to Holley for some warranty work and won't be back for about 2 weeks. Damn...should have kept the other one as a backup.

Thanks Gordon.
I'll let you know. Need to get some flange bolts to replace the cut ones first.
One of our club was checking with All Mustang this week for me.
