2nd Annual Picnic
I was asked recently by one of our lovely ladies when the next picnic would be. I was shooting for the beginning of April. But with Ginny's upcoming surgery I decided to wait until she could attend.
SOOOOO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
April 26th. Picnic and gathering.
Same as last year.
Location Rattlesnake cove at Bartlett Lake. Lots of windy twisty roads to drive on.
Time: any time after 10AM.
I'll be there early to setup the area.
For those wanting to Caravan out there, gather at the Chevron station at Cavecreek rd. and Carefree highway at 9am.
Charchoal will be provided. There are Grills available for our use and covered remadas.
Bring what ever you want to eat, drink and snack on.
Mike

Hey Mike and Hersch. Great Date Choice!!! I'll be there as long as we don't get that downpour like last year.

I spoke with Kevin Feltis last night. He is going to bring the BackDraft car to the picnic for all to see.

Mike and other picnic folks,
If we are planning to BBQ when we get there how about we pool our resources on the basics?
Things like plates, cups, drinks, ice, condiments, side dishes, etc.
Maybe we can have a sign up sheet here where we volunteer to split the basics. We can each still be responsible for our main courses but we can share in the other stuff.
Just an idea. As a COSTCO junkie we have lots of supplies at home that I would be happy to bring and share.
Thoughts?

I'll drag a supply of plates, cups, plastic eating utensils and such.
Mike, are you planning on just eating ketchup and mustard?

2 smears of ketchup with a dab of mustard in between.....Yummy.
That stuff is for the masses. I figure Lobster, shipped in from Boston, T-bone steaks, from Montana, Etc...

Mikec, I really, really, really, REALLY hate to do this but - can you give me directions on how to get to the picnic. As I fondly recall the last time I asked you for directions I got to the nudest camp auto show 2 hours late ( and missed all of the fun and many of the bare essentials ). However, I do know all about the back roads, dirt, in the north Phoenix area. SO, let's begin, I request specific and complete driving directions from the interchange of I-10 and I-17 to Lake Bartlett and Rattlesnake Cove. Many thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. John

John,
Now that I'm done laughing, First go to San Diego..
Continue on I-17 heading towards Flagstaff. You will come to the Carefree Highway turn off. About 5 miles north of Bell Rd. Take it.
Turn right on the Carefree Highway and continue down to CaveCreek road. maybe 4 miles If you can get there by 9am, meet up with the caravan leaving from the Chevron Station on the corner. If, not turn left and head to CaveCreek/Carefree. Go through CaveCreek and Carefree. After you get out of Carefree you will see a sign on the right side of the road directing you towards Bartlett lake. Follow this windy and twisty road. The road is long if I remember about 11 miles. The turn off to the cove is about 1/2 mile before the end of the road. look for a sign pointing towards rattlesnake cove. You will probably drive by it...I do.
If you get to the lake you have gone to far.
Now this is from memory of last years trip.
Mike
