Cool Speedworld Cobra Night (9/25)

Hello all!

I spoke with Dan Flynn (Speedworld Track Director) and we have a planned night for the Cobras to race. We race on Saturday September 25th. Be there at 6pm for tech inspection, racing starts at 7pm. They are going to assign us in our own bracket because we don't fit in the other catagories they have running that night. (He said he didn't want the street racers to complain about custom cars taking their trophies).

They would like to know approx how many cars plan to race.
If you plan to race please let me know via e-mail. [rickmadik29@yahoo.com]

Also, their "Club Day" is scheduled for late October.
If all goes well on Sept 25th, we can Schedule the AZ Cobras to race again on "Club Day". We can choose to run against each other or against other clubs. (More to come)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a recap on the rules set for us:

1. Everyone must wear a helmet, long pants and they would like us to wear a leather jacket (Sucks I know) but he did say that it can be any leather jacket and doesn't have to be NHRA approved.

2. He wants to cap us off at 12.0 in the 1/4 mile. If you run under 12.0 then you will get one warning, but still be allowed to race. At that time you will have to pull out early and calculate your time off 1/8 mile. Good news is you still get to drag, bad news is if you want to see how fast you can really go, you'll get one shot at it. If you do it twice, your gone.

3. Costs for this will be $15 dollars for racers and $10 for spectators.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who have never been, here is their web link to get directions.

http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

-Madik

That's a busy day. Same day as Run To The Pines Car Show in Pinetop, Veterans Car Show in Cottonwood and Gordon Levy Open House. Count me in. What could be more fun.

I too would love to join with all you guys but I am already Registered for the Run to the Pines show and don;t want to miss that show. It's the best one of the year here in Arizona in my opinion. So I guess I will have to get with you the next time around.

That sounds great.

I'll get an email out when I get back on Sunday.

Madik,

Again; nice work!!! Glad to see Speedworld is somewhat friendly.

Even though I had considered running with ProAutosports that day, I'll nix that idea since there are less drag race opportunities...

I will be there.

BTW, can you wear an SFI fire retardant jacket instead of leather? If you don't know, I'll be prepared for either case when I show up for tech - no big deal.

Good job and much thanks!

BP Williams,

Wanna caravan from the Queentucky area?

Karl,

I could head up Power to US60 and meet up with you too for a caravan...

Let me know guys.

This should be fun. Been a couple years for me.

This IS a busy day! Here is one more event to add to the calendar.

ProAutoSports is offering a FREE day to run at Firebird West for existing members in any of the run groups that you would normally participate.

Additionally, they are conducting a class for advanced driving techniques; this one carries a fee.

So, let's see...I'm signed up for the class which should last till the afternoon...stop by the open house...cruise home to clean up then off to Speedworld for my first try at drag racing.

Sounds like a good day to me! Count me in Madik.

itBites, Sounds like a good plan. I'm trying to figure out a way to trailer up there but if worse comes to worse, I think the old copperhead would probably make that long a trip. I upgraded my AAA coverage to give me 100 miles towing...just in case. Ha.

If you are talking about 67th and Bell Kmart it has been stopped. The new manager shut it down but not because we were bad! New place is 59th & Bell N. E corner or N W not rember for sure.

itBites, "She Who Must Be Obeyed" has made other plans for me. She likes to take her "Trophy Husband" to the occasional social function, but I guess she's stuck with me tomorrow night. I'll also be out of town the following weekend but I do plan on going out tonight for my weekly whiplash doseage.

Sorry guys,
I forgot you have your own stomping grounds down Mexico way. My heart was in right place, just my A$$ was on wrong map. How many cars on the average do you have any given show night? There was about 350 + cars on our Kmart deal. Everybody now looking for new roost. Wish ya the best and maybe see you at the drags.

Harley,

Yes, power and southern...

I'll try to get there between 4:00 and 5:00 Saturday afternoon.

It will be the first drive on the new transmission hop-up from Hughes. I hope it is as good as the Hughes transmission in my 12 sec Vette I put in the new tranny and a ratchet shifter cuz I got tired of missing 2nd and 3rd and ending up at 8000 rpm in neutral...

Also have new: Fan, valvecover breather system, catch can, wheels, tires, brakes...

Hope it makes it...

See you there

ItBites

I will be there before 5 -

We are in the same position with the rebuild from Hughes. I have about 20 miles on the new transmission and so far i really like - I haven't had the "time" to see if it is leaking but it does seem to respond better - we can compare notes

later

I just checked the Speedworld website and they have us listed as one of their scheduled of events. Pretty cool.

Just looked at Speedworld's page and it showed Saturday, 09/25 as "day time drags". Hope this is an error on their part.
