What is your plan for the Pines? Are you just coming up Sat.? I may go up to Heber Fri. I could meet you for breakfast in Heber Sat. Maybe do something after the show also.

Jim, we are not going up to the Pines. Sat, Sept 25th is Cobra Drag night at Speedworld. That's where we will be. Check in 6pm, race 7pm? We have done this 2 times before as a club and it is a blast! We get our own lane so you can run as many times as you want, almost as soon as you want. Later in the evening things slow down.

Bob

Bob,

I was wondering if you were going to the drags. Of all the local descriptions I've seen, yours and Karls (both bottled) are the ones I've wanted to see run. Was talking to Manny yesterday and he said your car is a monster.

Haven't met ya, but from the description, I'll be very interested to see you run. Hope you open the bottle for the rest of us slow folks. Maybe Karl will open his bottle as well.

Hope you've got good tires.

See you on the 25th. I'll be the one wondering how much I'll have to spend to get into the big leagues.

Karl,

I'm not sure how to take your post above (?) I hope I have not offended anyone.

You are still planning to go? My tranny woes are over and I'm replacing plugs and wires now, will set the timing and run it low on gas this weekend (to use race gas at the drags). We should caravan. Brian and Jim will be out at Firebird all day and are hoping to make it over to Speedworld later. Do you know about Harley?

Mikiec will be there, the drags that is, with his 30 second cobra.

Mr. Wood... The only way for you to offend anybody in this group is to go with out showering for a few months.

Mike

EWood, Lordy Lordy. I do not see anything offensive in what you are saying. The "ZAP" thing was what I had on my old 427, 69 Nova, and that was what a whole lot of people got to read in the six years I raced the car, way back when. Most people didn't think it would be so quick, with just a two barrel on board.

I have no idea how quick my car will be. It feels pretty perky and I'll finally get to find out. I know better than to be too overly optimistic because it does take a pretty good street car to even get into the 12's. I've enlisted a friend to trailer us up to East Blythe and I think caravaning sounds good, if we can work out the logistics.

I wish I could be in two places at once but can not come play with you at the drags. We will be going to Pinetop so will miss the 25th but looking forward to the latter dates.
Karl are you a little concerned about your fused neck and running? Not running wrinkle walls so no tire shake or chutes to hit when opening but even runs in the 10 to 12's bounce you around a little. Let me know how your neck is the next day.
Know it will be a blast and look forward to next night at the track so I can come play with you all.
PS who's keepin the side bets?

Jeff, sorry to hear you can't make it to the drags. The neck has been doing pretty well. I've even gotten back to playing racquetball with little adverse effect. I'd be pleasantly surprised if I could get enough initial traction to strain my neck. We'll see how lowering the tire pressure below 19# and some hard smokey burnouts helps. Finally got around to installing the line lock that's been sitting in the garage for three years.

I haven't received any offers of wagers so I haven't looked around for a bag man. I'm thinking though that Mikiec would probably be the best bet since everybody knows that he can't get away very fast with his mini-motored car and even I could outrun him in a foot race..

Karl,

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the low pressure (you should be able to go as low as 14 or maybe even 12 psi), good burnout and (hopefully) sticky launch pad (they better do some track prep for us!!!).

MY 4000 lb '73 454ci Vette runs consistent 12.4 - 12.6 on 275-50-15 M&H Racemaster cheater slicks. Once I get a good burnout, I can't tell that the tires slip at all. I stage at just below 3000 rpm and just hammer it on the second yellow. Best 60' time was 1.83. That car has very stiff road race suspension, so no tricks there, just good, sticky tires. Its real funny to watch when they stage me against a wheel standing 12.7-12.8 sec SB vega or maverick.

You bet I'm going - this sounds like a lot of fun - I don't think my AOD with a 3:10 rear end will do much - but it sounds like a fun night - and there are some monsters that i am hoping will show up.

Harley,

I'm an auto with a 3:08 rear, and at 2900 lb, I do not expect stunning times, but like you said, it'll be fun...

Are you in the East Valley? Wanna caravan?

I am at Power and Thomas - pretty far east - I would like to ride over with others - but i also hate to hold others up, i tend to be on the slow side as i stay close to the speed limit - I rode with the group once and only saw them at the stops - the good part is that it seems like we always a lot of stops - my girlfriend kept telling me to go faster until she saw the speedometer and MrPink still pulling away - I have rationalized this to be OK as my motor only has 900 miles and is still getting broken in
