Karl is "THE MAN"

We had about 8 people at the drags and 4 cars that made runs. Erik, Jeff, Greg and Karl - they all did us proud but Karl made two passes at 10.7@125mph - Karl got one warning and Jeff was kind enough to take the "you're done" a$$ chewing - for Karl (see what I mean about someone looking out for him) - while Jeff was being talked to - Karl was doing some strange victory dance - but today he was allowed

Anyways - his car ran great and the results are indeed impressive

Erik was consistent at 12.1 @112mph - great runs
Greg had a car that wanted to shift from 2nd to 5th and that impacted his time - at least that was his story
Jeff ran consistent 12.2s I think - impressive burn-outs, from the bleachers it looked like he had trouble hoohing up

Now if we can get Karl to move to 250horsepower jets he might get in the 9s - he is the man - at least for the results of today

Jim, thanks. Big smiley face on this old geezer's mug. After driving the car almost 80 miles to get there, I was well pleased with the way my little hot rod ran. ( the extended distance was due to supposed freeway closure and a missed turn, NOT but 10PSI Mikiec directions. He's innocent this time. I wasn't looking for the elusive Mobile station as some people were yesterday)
Anyway, the ride home was uneventful and about 10 miles shorter, so the copper queenie is getting a well deserved rest in the garage while I still try to get the kinks and cramps out of my legs.

Hey Mr. Karlos,
The Mr. is for kicking all our butts today. I had a ball today. Like we talked about before our run my plan was to give all I she. But just went up in smoke. I think we have video of aBOUT A half track burn out of my failed attempt.
My first pass was a 12.2 braking hard at 3/4 track, 2nd pass was also a 12.2 trying to chase down ITBITES. 3rd and last pass was getting spanked by Karl. Then I get chewed out by track guys thinking I was Karlos going too quick for the double wammy.
Had my Dad with me and Jack H towed us out (thanks Jack) . Was ribbed by dad for not doing burnouts ONLY in the water box, but had a great time and didn't break anything.. Life is good., I'll do better next time THANKS Harley, E. Wood and Karlos !!!

OK,

Looks like fun was had by all.

Karl, What was your MPH? Are they going to allow the rest of us to run in the future?

Jeff, Thanks for taking one for the team.:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Last question.. Who is Greg? I do not recognize the name.

Mike

I Can tell ya Karls time on our run. They hand wrote a little love note on the time slip presented to me on Karls behalf. "TOO FAST ,,, THE END!!!! and verbal was .... GO HOME )%&Y{BU)(
Karlos ran 124.156 mph at 10.749 et to my 112.576 = 13.576 half track burnout. Jacks' son Bradly is forwarding the video. I will post when I get it. I have not seen it myself yet but he said it is pretty funny. Sorry Karl I do not think you will be in any part of this video, or after the first 10 feet anyway.

What were the 1/8 mile split times and mph?

Thanks
Brent

mikiec 10-25-2004 10:48 AM

Thanks, Jeff...

Did they say anything about banning Karl or the rest of us for blatant disregard of the rules they setup for us?
:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Karl,
Way to go.....

Well with a little better air and reaction time plus a little more juice he (karlos) is in the 9's.
reaction = .687
I1= 1.562
I2= 4.439
I3= 6.846 at 102.128 mph

Karl Bebout 10-25-2004 10:53 AM

I left my time slips at home but as I remember my 1/8th time was like 6.875 and 101-102 MPH. I'll confirm tomorrow. I'll try to figure out how to post its image in the car profile section. Didn't get as good of 60' times as a month ago. Still in the 1.5's but not as good as the 1.51 then.

mikiec 10-25-2004 10:53 AM

Bob,

Did you run?

Mike

Karl Bebout 10-25-2004 11:30 AM

Jeff, what a pal! I appreciate you taking the A$$ chewing that was meant for me but I have to defend my reaction time. I've been told that with the way Speedworld's tree is set up, a .500 is perfect so my .687 is only .187 off being Mr. Wonderful. (pure lucky guess, I'm sure, rather than left over skill from 30 years ago)

Mikiec, (Mr. 10#PSI), I'm sure I told them that I got a leg cramp and couldn't lift off the throttle soon enough and that I was so scared that I couldn't let go ot the steering wheel long enough to turn off the ignition.

vettestr 10-25-2004 12:21 PM

Karl,
No poke intended on reaction times.I deserve so many butt chewins for this and that I am WAY ahead of the deal so no big deal. What are they going to do? take my birthday away or something... L O L
I was thinking 2 tenths off your 10 with a 7 turns into a 5. Then a couple more tenths for cold wet air and a little more juice and the 5 -2 -3 is in the NINES.
Gotta admit I was thinking about tree in the .4's but they were not using the Pro tree so your right on with .500 being luck or perfect luck.
Did notice they had the LED lights, brighter and faster but not a problem for our old cat like reactions.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 10-25-2004 12:33 PM

Did I race?

Mike, no I didn't run. Gremlins attacked Sat/Sun. I have 2 out of 3 figured out. My new left rear tire had about 8oz of balance weight and my right rear had none!!!. Returned the wheel/tires for proper road force balance and turn the tire on the rim.
Second, I had wheels aligned last Wed and one of the lower A-Arm alignment bolts was only hand tight. That explaines the steering wheel turn and the "clunk" in the rear as the loose bolt was traveling in and out in a slot. Will return to Network Alignment as soon as my wheels are aligned.
Next to figure out my mis-fire over 5000rpm. Will try new plugs first.
I put a wrench on everthing underneath last Tues so the Wednesday Alignment had to be the problem and it was. I just finished putting a wrench on everything again.

Bob,

Glad you found your steering problem.

Mr Gold/Brown is "The Man". Dam that car was fast and looked fast going down the track. He looked like some santa clause , stealing someone's car, took off and couldn't stop the dam raindeer and was holding on for his life. I thought he was nuts until I saw that mental patient on the bike. What? He did 165 mph in under 9 seconds or something and on 1; yes I said 1 week most of the way. Ah...remember the good old days when you could hold onto the handlebars? ....or was that my wife?:3DSMILE: :D **) ;)

Fitz 10-25-2004 10:59 PM

Of course I can't spell. That is 1 wheel not 1 week; my finger was stuck in my noise too long.:LOL:

mikiec 10-25-2004 11:26 PM

Fitz,

I think the 1 week was some sort of Freudian slip. So I'll ask...

Is it done yet? Oh, I sent you an email with the info you requested.

Mike
