Club Day @ Speedworld
I saw that Speedworld is having another Club Day, Sunday, January 30, 9 AM. I'm willing to make the long drive again. It would be fun to get a lot more Cobras out than the few brave souls that made it last time. Anyone game? Bob B, stock up on your Depends!
One thing, this is the day after the Barret Jackson biggie at the Pav.

I just got two since I went a little too quick. That day was pretty slow too since it was some sort of points race besides being Club Day. There were a lot of cars and getting good pit parking was a chore. I think there was only four of us that ran that day and don't know if the others made more runs. Do know that Jeff C. didn't. teehee.

I ran three or four times the last day. Cobra turnout was low. Not sure why as it is fun, even though it is a while between rounds?
Karl, I won't be there as I'm in the middle of a pool building project...

I will be there. Just finished mid shift conversion. I should hit third not fifth this time. Has anyone raced there when it was not club day. The guy in tech did not want to pass my car. It looked like they passed me only because I was with the cobra club.

The NHRA tech rules for open cars are pretty stringent and the track was nice enough to bend them for us, if we don't go too fast. You and I seem to be the only ones interested and this really surprises me. To me, the opportunity to thrash my little hot rod, without worring about getting busted, is well worth the LONG drive from East Bumscrew. Anybody else?

Karlos,
You just need somebody to TAKE BUTT CHEWIN for ya when you run to quick. ..... Ya gotta watch this guy everybody. Here is is SOP. "can i trade lanes with you so we can get better photos? " then he rips off a 10's run with tower using your particapant number because of lane swap. OR thats how he abused me and my fine reputation!
Carl,
I will not be out with you in person but in spirit for sure. My Toy is going to new home, We are installing a new injected 383 stroker with fast burn set up. It will be completed by then so maybe new owner will bring out for a few time slips. Also a bottle baby and has new shoes so traction should be a little better too. but i will warn him that you are the guy mom told us about.....

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, it was an honest mistake! I got a leg cramp and couldn't lift off the throttle in time to slow down, I forgot to pull the plug wires off two cylinders, a terrible tail wind struck in my lane only. Honest! Ain't it awful having to make excuses for going too fast? Can't believe you sold your baby, but then again, that's what you're in the business to do. I'm hoping to squeeze my car a little faster. Changed out my 800 Edelbrock carb for a Holley 850. Doesn't feel any better on the bottom end but does seem to pull better on the big end. Jus what I need, Mo Power.

Karl,
What ignition box are ya running? If you want a little more **** can that semi controled fuel leak and drop injection on her. They have come a long way since you played with the old mech. systems and electronics make it SO drivable. Hell get a bag O wire ties and we will hang my system on your baby. Install in about an hour if running a return line already, if not can wire tie a return in and go in about 2 maybe 3 hours with a tune.
I broke my BOX so hung a carb back on and difference was unbelievable. Carb was right as set up with gas analizer and so on . Was a 780 so went to a 850 then a 1050. Never came close to performance of injection.
I really can not explain the difference because a carb if properly sized and jetted should be just as good overall or darn close except throttle response time for given conditions but not even close. Thats why I went to gas analizer thinking I just missed set-up, then called in the big guns and had my Dad check settings.. The big Kahunna could not squeeze out any more either!!

Jeff,
Injection will still flow fuel when manifold pressure approaches (or equals) atmospheric pressure. This will make more power, but maybe not a lot more.
The carb has to force the manifold pressure to be lower than atm in order to have the flow velocity required in the venturiis to drop the pressure and have atm pressure in the vents push the fuel out into the airstream. Sine the manifold pressure is lower than atm, the cylinder is not as stuffed and therefore less power.
Generally this will not make a lot of difference...

Karlos Post it a day or two before club day. If you show I will, I need at least one cobra to run, even if you do blow my doors off again with another 10.2. It would be more fun with a better club turnout. It's a good chance to find out what your car can do. With NHRA tech rules it doesn't sound like you can go down on any fri. or sat. night and run. See you there Greg

Hi Greg, haven't seen that anyone else is interested this time so I haven't talked to Victoria at Speedworld about the CC being included. I'm also going to pass this time. I'll keep an eye on their web site for the next club day and hopefully, by then, the weather will be better, more guys will want to come out, and my buddy will have a trailer to drag my car out there. Hoping the weather cooperates for the PAV thi Saturday. See you there?

count me in for next time. If I went there on a week night to run it, do you think they would let me race without a full cage roll bar.Greg

Greg,
Madik, who has now sold his cobra, was able to run on Wednesday night a few times w/o the full safety equipment. He had done it and basically turned us on to the club-day thing a few months back.
If you're close it might be worth a try!
