Default Carefree Car Show Results

Gooseegg. Nada. Nilch. Large car, motorcycle, private airplane show. All winners were preserved/restored OLD vehicles. No class that Cobras fit into. We were lumped into "modified" class, which included everything that wasn't "original". The voting was done by ghosts, not participants. Also the announcer seemed to know all the winners. No need to attend next year. Had a good time with Fitz, Tom (ttmb), John (cobish) and a visit from Steve (mulv). Nice day though.

the b17 free rides were nice; the P52 fighter was cool, even though it ran over those cats. Mulv stealing the pancakes and leaving early wasn't nice. The river in front of the cars after the pipe blew up and damaged all those cars to the right of us was quite different. Where else could you go in the morning and freeze and get sun burned in the afternoon.

Bob was right about the awards. We had the coolest cars there by public comments. We got screwed....

WOW, What a story about your day but I still need more info. I have to ask about the ...... P52 smashed ***** N boots???, Mulv hijacks the flapjacks???, What about the blown pipe and what was in it?
Then you all get screw'd. Well I guess all is well that ends well.
At least you had the winners even if they did not know it and I am sure you guys made the best time possible out of the deal. Have fun guys, Wish I had a car finsihed to come out and play with you all.

There was a water main explosion. The car most damaged by the falling rock debris also happend to win "Best of Show". a 1955 300SL Gullwing Mercedes. Probably a pollitacly correct appology to the owner. Also an original 1963 Shelby that got drenshed by the water main did not win anything. B-17 was a fly-over only and a P-51 Mustang was the star of the airplanes but I like Fitz's version better. Mulv came by and entertained us with his Stand-Up Routine. He brougt his own straight man.

To me these are the reasons for participating in show. See cool stuff, meet cool people.

Awards and judging don't mean much to me. At the bigger shows, the builders/restorers of the winning cars aren't there anyways, and their the ones that deserve the acloades.

Not so many cobras in the hills. Usually, local shows have a "Special Interest" category. I really enjoy the people I meet and explaining the (cobra) hobby to local folks, most of whom have built their own cars/hot rods, etc.

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a joiner. I have spent so many hours in meetings in my life, that I really enjoy my privacy. I showed up at the appointed time at the Carefree inn wanting to put a face to the names I have seen here on the forum. Nobody there. Then drove west thinking I could meet the folks at the staging area but met them 180 out. Did a 180 and followed the three to the Carefree Inn, said hi, was ignored so I went and had a great breakfast at the Inn and left. I wasn't in a great mood to start because of some others issues. Doesn't seem as though I missed much though. Still can't put a name to a face. Maybe just as well.

John, we went looking for you at the Carefree Inn before leaving. None of us could find you. Perhaps you were inside?

John,

Bring the wife/girlfriend along on Sunday. Meet the gang, put faces to the names. I think you will have a good time.

Leaving the gas station on Shea and Beeline at 10:30am.

Mike
