Question Registering Factory 5

Guys
I am new to this forum (been on ffrog since the start of my build in September 05).
I began my build in MA, but moved back to AZ a few months ago. My car is at 'ready for paint stage' and I was wondering whether I should register it now or after painting?
What paperwork will I need at DMV for a first-time-registration?
Any special tips to ensure that I get registered as a 65?
Any DMV offices that are more suited to registering these cars than others (I live in North Scottsdale - near the Scottsdale airpark)?
Thanks for the help
Rob

Check with Gordon Levy. He's registered hundreds.

Rob, there is no problem at all to register as a 1965 Ford roadster. You do not need to paint the Cobra, or have windshield wipers to register. Look back on this Arizona Cobra web site and you will find dozens of posts about registering in Arizona. In Scottsdale there are at least a dozen Cobras and probably 70 in the Phoenix area. The "for life " President is Mike Canning, "MIKIEC". Send him an email and he will help you. Good luck and welcome to the Arizona Cobra, John

I know it's a little ways for you to go but the MVD on Greenfield and the 60 has done quite a few of them. They seem to know what is going on. It will be no problem to get it reg.
Good luck

Rob,
I second what Dave from Mesa says about the MVD on Greenfield. I had heard horror stories about other offices but this one knows what they're doing. Well worth the drive from Peoria for me.

(And they even have windows where you can watch your car as you sit and wait for your number to be called. Right, Dave? )

Yeah! But didn't you only get up to see if your car was still there maybe 4-5 times?

first you will need to have the FFR # stamped on the frame somewhere. Don't use the tag the FFR sends because it says 2004, 2005, etc..
You will need a level 2 inspection and vin assignment. This will cost about $50. You will need to have your kit invoice, any invoices from the engine, trans, etc...
This process will take anywhere from 1.5-4 hours to complete depending on how busy they are.
Greenfield and 60 has both an inspection station and MVD center, that's way they get used a lot.
You may or may not have to pay sales tax on the kit. I have found thsi kind of hit and miss. DO NOT ARGUE with them about anything.
You can give me a call at 520-494-2745 if you have any more questions.

I don't think that you need a level 2 inspection any more. When Wolverine went they told him that he didn't need it any more. Also hit and miss. Took a little over an hour.
