Mr. Pink Broke My Motor!
OK, not really but it can't possibly be MY fault....can it?
Pink helped me toss in a new (used) fuel pump (thanks Don M!) and we fired that muther up....but it ain't right. Pops, coughs and doesn't want to either idle or run up top. There were a couple times we got it to rev up a bit and it was smooth, but wants to immediately die.
We double-checked TDC and the firing order. Everything seems to be plugged in, snugged down and generally in place. I hate to think it was my install of the new lifters and rockers but I'm beginning to wonder.
Help!

Thanks Pat. I saw it there but with the web-weirdness over there I haven't been able to reply yet.
Unfortunately the Schraeder valve has been removed from the fuel lines at some point so I'll have to find one on a 'T' to splice in before I can check it.

Consensus after talking with Chris L. and others is a vacuum leak. Everything on top looks good so I need to pull the upper and lower and re-install. Talked With Don M. today and he said his ran the same way when he installed a bad manifold.
Got my daughter's HS orientation tonight and a memorial service after that for a local musician so I'll start tearing it down tomorrow night.
Don has the body ready for the final coat of primer. Last chance to talk me out of green.

What a beauty! I love your car man.
Jag-you-are 'Brooklands Green' is the one I picked. No stripe, black interior, no scoop, roll bar or pipes. It's gonna look sweet.
Thanks Mikie. It was Chico Chism, not a close friend or anything but a real nice old guy and a mainstay of the local Blues community.

Fixed. Major vacuum leak. Some dipweed missed closing up an unneeded port (name withheld to protect myself). Thanks for the tips everybody.
