That was a problem with some of the older cars. FFR had a fix if you want to keep in in the stock location.
What I did.. JB Weld the hooks going into the 3/4 tubing. I then tied all down rods together. This way they will not slip. I also, double nutted the rods after tightening.
The mounting plate is just a piece of 1/8 steel.
You might post over on FFCobra and see if anybody still has their old setup after switching to a trunk mount.
