Does anyone have experience with their engines. I am looking at their 347w/webers. I just talked to someone who said because of the long stroke this/can be problems with the piston skirts.

Their prices seem fair and other respondents in other forums, including Club Cobra not have any bad to say except one about time delivery.

Their "special engine" is a 347 w/ webers, 430hp w/ 499 torque. Sounds good.

Please keep negative comments about webers to a minimum. I am a glutton.

Snakebit. I am in the same decision mode 331 vs 347 stroker. The issue you are referring to is the 'wrist pin hole' on the piston used for the 347 is very close to the bottom piston ring. Some say this results in 'a potential' for the motor to burn oil and, or to cause premature ring wear. Those holding that view therefore favor the 331 as the wrist pin hole is slightly further away from the ring. Joe Sherman of Joe Sherman Racing in Santa Ana, Ca., (apparently well known in the Mustang racer set) says "it's all crap, they cost the same to build, and the 347 has more power". TandL Engines said "we have never built a 331 and we have built literally hundreds of 347's without a problem". I am also trying to find someone who has personal experience with Tand L as they offer a very attractive 347 using Dart Pro I heads, Mahle pistons, Holley carb, and Edelbrock RPM air gap intake. RD

Ford is building a 500 HP based on 331 engine. From what I understand the 3.25 stroke of the 331 is better suited for racing than the 3.40 stroke of the 347. I've spoken with Roush on several occasions, and while they will build you a 342 (standard bore 302 with 3.40 stroke), they stopped making them. They now only have in production the 327 (standard bore 302 with a 3.25 stroke) and a 353 (3.25 stroke with a big bore Dart block). Personally, I would buy the 331.

Regarding T&L, there's a Tiger owner who mentioned on the Tiger Forum that he had bought a 347 engine from T&L and said the engine runs great, but their delivery time to him was not even close.

Additionally, like ERA they don't use a contract. I goes against every fiber in my body to send money witout a contract. Guess it is the industry. From some research on various forums they have a good rep. I just want to talk to someone about their personal motor experience. T and L sounds solid and I don't have a problem with that.
When are you expecting your FIA?

I saw that post also. T and L are really great about answering question with a rapid response. More than I can say for the companies seller weber set ups.

If you go over to FFCobra, you will find a whole bunch of info on them and almost all of it is good. I am sure you could find someone willing to tell you about their experience. From what I have read on them, its exactly as people here have said, great at building, suck at delivery.

You need to decide if you want a crate engine or a specifically built custom engine for your application. Crate engines are mass produced to go into anything, ie. Mustang, cobra, truck or street rod.
A custom engine such as we build are car specific and taylored to the weight and/or balance of your car and specific performance requirements. This tends to be a more powerful and reliable package the doesn't cost any or much more than most crate engine.

Snake, as to when I am expecting my ERA, that is a question that the annointed one himself cannot answer. I have been fortunate though and my car is reportedly going to Tony's for painting in the next week or so. Depending on Tony's activities, it might be there 8-12 weeks. I told him I'm not in a rush, more concerned about "getting it right". Then back to ERA for suspension installation, etc. Most likely is going to "morph" into a turnkey, so I am looking for a motor builder fairly quickly. Keith Craft has an excellent reputation, and that is where I am leaning right now. Can't wait to get that car!!!! Rickd.
