This is the only place I've been that actually has MUD storms. The wind comes up, much like a scirroco in North Africa, and blows up a wall of dust. The rains come about half way through the dust storm and washes the dust from the air. Naturally, when you get water and dust mixed, you get mud. Every year you can see on local TV stations a wall of dust moving across the valley that is 200 or 300 or 500 feet high. It's an amazing phenomenon if you never seen it.
