I need to get it put in before my trip to Laughlin on the 26th of this month..the leak is coming from inback of the harmonic balancer....very small but there is a leak and it'll go BLURP BLOP on a trip if Idon't take care of it...

Dave, get a pump from a 1985 Grand marquie with a 302. That is a correct length standard rotation water pump.

Yes it will fit, but you can run to autozone to get this one and have your car up and running in an hour.

when i built my 342 i used a reverse rotation edelbrock water pump, but i wanted to simplify the serp belt set up so i switched to a standard direction pump and it leaked. i found out later that the new timing cover i was using was actually for a truck. if you look on the cover the water outlets will point in different directions make sure the plat on the water pump matches the timing cover. if it doesnt like in my case i used the backing plate from the edelbrock wich has round holes and will mate to any of the timing covers.
just thought i would pass this on incase you run into a problem.

One of those, I can't sleep nights....Well, I had a new mechanic come out to the house to work on a few things....His name is Ehren..He's done some work for a few guys in the club..My first experience with him was very good...There were a few things that I had thought were finished, engine wise, but you never know what to expect.. We did have to install a new water pump because of a leak and a new 195 degree thermostat. ( the old one was put on upside down.) Now , the harmonic balancer is a bit wobbly so we have to change that out before Laughlin..He's going to put in one that will rev up to 11,000 rpm , which I never do so the darn thing should be full proof and last a lifetime,,This one can be purchased at Loper's for about $180..This one is being installed next Tuesday..I don't know if you'd have an interest in watching but you're more than welcome to come out...Not only was I very satisfied with his work I was satisfied with what it took to fix it..He's very reasonable and you can learn alot from him too..He does explain things to you for sure...If you need his number, please write me...Dave

Dave,

Glad to hear you had a good experience. Send an email to Mr. Pink and have him put this guy's info on the web site.

Mike
