At least 2 problems about getting the # 10 Cobra to R&G this year.
1. Convience Patti I will not break anything too expensive. hum?
2. 3000 miles round trip at $4 plus a gal towing 7000 pound trailer that eats tires for breakfast ( yes I blew one coming back from Tulsa Shelby Nationals ) only getting 8 mpg -- do tha math.

A very wise man indeed, he must be a Cobra owner. I usually follow that rule as I am always doing my best to spend all my limited funds.

Lew,
I have a 20 ft enclosed car trailer that I never use for long trips because it really decreases the mileage. That's why I use that little single axle trailer to tow the GT with. It is hardly noticable when towing. I figure that the car is in good hand when I get to R&G as it stays on the grounds at Gateway along with the trailer. I took the enclosed trailer one year and it cost almost double the fuel. I get about 22 MPG not towing and 18 with the small open trailer, 12MPG with the enclosed trailer.
Besides, you have to be there with the gas powered Margarita mixer, otherwise I might not show.

That is what I am thinking, a light open trailer like I had way back a sold cheap would be what I need now.

Lets do the math Lew. You've already decided you'll be in St. Louis. We all know the blender is coming with you, this dictates you'll be bringing the truck. You can't put that smelly thing in your wifes car (I'm assuming it gets the better mileage)
Since you know you'll be there, much of the travel cost is already sunk. You just need to look at incremental costs. Those are entry fees and fuel. I'm sure your truck gets about 16 mpg on the highway so the incremental is only half of your 8 mpg*3000 mile statement.
Fuel for the cobra is almost negligable being a smallblock so I'm not considering that.
I'll even bring the tequilla and fuel for the blender if it helps.
See you there.
Mat
