Sign me up
Guys, I'll be there.
Are the west side guys going to meet up in our neck of the woods and cruise over to Carefree Hwy and Cave Creek?
Remember that Cave Creek and Carefree are pretty serious about their in-town posted speed limits.

To beakfast we come!!
Hi Mikie,
Yes Paula and I will attend the breakfast run. I think everything on the cobra should be back together tommorow. I pick up the newly coated side pipes in the morning. Then all I need is to clean her up.

Clean and satisfied
If the cobra gets cleaned it's usually Paula that does the cleaning and she gets a most deserving reward.

It don't fit
I love things that are supposed to fit but in actuality don't. ie, my new hi zoot Shelby radiator.
I will most likely be installing the old pos in for the breakfast run but at least it will have a new fan. Banged the sh&# out of the new aluminum one so a return is out of the question.
A call to Tim at Ron Davis Radiators has them at the end of September for delivery on a custom radiator. I just can't win.
I should be there Sunday (one of the two meeting spots) in the Cobra or the Stang.
See you then.

Jeff,
I just got back in town after a week on the east coast. Sorry to hear that the radiator did not work.
Bring either car to the run....
See you there.

Improvised
Mike,
I took the old radiator and outfitted it with my new fan last night. Should have the car back among the driving by Sunday morning.
Ron Davis is making a new radiator for me. $hould be done in $eptember. Not $ure of co$t but I think it will hurt!
See everyone there.

No
see, well, um, it got pretty dinged up trying to wedge it out of the frame members it was attached to from being 1-1/2" too wide and all. How it got so contorted in such a small space is beyond me at this point!
When I finall got it wrestled free from the stronghold it had on my Hi Tech I reached for the nearest thing to me which just happened to be a short length of 2x4 and then, well, ........ Let's just leave it at that. Fact is, it was not pretty - but I felt so much better.
Not the best way to waste about $500 but I did find a use for that 2x4 I had left over from garage construction so in actuality I'm only down about $497.50
Anybody else got some ill-fitting parts that need adjustment?
I got a cool fan and wiring and brackets and small parts though!

Sorry guys, no breakfast run for me tommorrow. After all
that work to get it ready I discovered a broken radiator support.
I tried to have it ready for Saturday but ran out of time. So I
will be here trying to get it finished.
I made a whole new bracket and redesigned it to be much stronger. This way I won't have to worry about it again.
If it's done in time I might go to 77th & Bell or the Pavillions.

Hersh,
The run is scheduled for Sunday. That gives you more time to get it fixed.
I and Ginny will be at 77th and Bell Sat. night.

Jeff,
Not that it helps now but your car has two struts that run from the front tower to the front clip on both sides these bars were not in the original cars. They were put in the Hi-Tech Replica cars and the first few Hi-Tech Motorsports cars. There are a few other small changes made to the frame as well in the earily days nothing major though. Also the nose of the car sets about 1/2" lower. Did you take the old radiator to Tim for measurements or just tell him to narrow it? The corners will need to be chop of at 45 deg angles and the pins placement the bottom should be double checked. Tim, just made a radiator for Don Growth (I hope I got the last name spelled right) his radiator should be the same as yours, or at least very, close.
If you have any other questions drop me a line.
Till later,
Mike

Reply to Mike
Mike,
I took a bunch of measurements to Tim and triple checked the pin spacing as it was 1/8" different from the Shelby piece. I also measured the max allowable spacing between the frame rails and used that dimension.
Hopefully when I get this sorted out we can meet up and plan out some things.
Jeff
p.s Nice seeing evryone who showed up yesterday. It was a great summer morning for a ride - took the long way home - got a sunburned scalp to prove it. Liked driving it so much I took it to dinner last night and it followed me to work today.
