Default The Nitty Gritty

Now THAT's going to add a lot of flavor and historical spice to our trip, I'm sure

Rob, you must have really loved it there to still remember all those details...

YES, we like curves, but 40 miles of them.

I remember cruising the twisties in the hills between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella years ago in my old 1962 Jag Mark II sedan....only time in my life I actually stopped to take a break from the fun! OMGoodness!

Let's see...5 gals of Gas, plus 19 in the main tank, five gallons of water, clothing, toiletries, 5 gallons of sunblock...one hungry teenager's worth of snacks.....hahaha!! This cobra will wind up weighing in at just under 4000# but WHAT a cruise it will be!!

Thanks again to everyone, you've about doubled the fun we would have had without your helpful input!

Ride safely!

Dirk

I hope the trip goes great!! Being a native here i have seen every nook and cranny of az and you should have a great time.
Make sure you let everyone know how it went and if the boy had fun.
I wish my teenager wanted to do that, actually he and i are rebuilding him a 1974 corvette with a canam body kit. Glad to see him interested in something.

Have a blast and be careful!!!

Talking Back and smiling all the way!!

The trip to Arizona was a fantastic experience! My son Preston loved every minute of it, took about 1200 photos and we enjoyed the highlight spots you all suggested as well as the natural beauty of Arizona.

Old Route 66 I travelled in 1957 with my family as we moved to San Diego from Michigan so I possibly ate at some of the same old cafes Seligman was a hoot! Meteor Crater, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, the Grand Canyon (by helicopter as well as the rim) were memorable indeed. Preston said it's the most fun he's ever had on any trip in his life and it's made a positive difference in our relationship....kind of like a huge emotional bank deposit.

The car ran like a top the whole way, not a glitch for over 1600 miles.

My sincere thanks to all of you who helped make this trip such a wonderful one for the both of us. If you're ever headed up my way in North Central California please let me know

Regards!

Dirk

RFO Dirk,
These cars are cool but the moments you get with your kids is what is all about. When you hear things like "it's the most fun he's ever had" life is good, very good !

Fun trip, right? We do that all the time here in Arizona. Lots of good driving mountain roads.
