My Cobra, an angry corvette and AZ speed cameras
Funny thing happened to me yesterday. I had just got my FFR back from Gordon Levy after my 2k oil change, etc, and was taking the car to get washed at the Arizona car wash company. As they were working on it, an attractive woman waiting nearby remarked on how three guys were working on my FFR while only one guy was working on her Civic and she couldn't figure out why...
Later, as I was in line waiting for the green arrow to turn left onto US 60 on ramp, a black corvette pulled up behind me. He started revving his engine and trying to get me to rev mine. I don't know about everyone else but one thing I have noticed is that you drive one of these cars, you have a spotlight on you so I always take it real easy. I don't change lanes suddenly, speed (well, not too much) and basically watch out for everyone trying to kill you.
The light changes and the line of cars slowly goes down the on ramp except for the Vette who crosses the gore strip, 3 lanes of traffic, engine snarling, JUST IN TIME TO GET FLASHED BY A SPEED CAMERA!
He then slows down 20 mph or so back to the speed limit. The location was US 60 and Arizona Ave going west.
So then I thought to myself, there is ANOTHER SPEED CAMERA coming up in 2minutes just before the US 60 / 101 interchange. Should I see just how much of an idiot this guy is? So I slowly work my way over behind him just at the 300 foot warning sign for the approaching camera. He notices me in back of him and floors it -- AND GETS FLASHED AGAIN!!!!!
got to love it...

This story further documents the fact that Vette drivers have no brains.
Or, should I say, they think with the little brain!

Being a former Vette owner ('66 427 Convertible), I resemble that remark.

Yes, I kick myself now. I should have sold the Vette a long time ago, but it all worked out in the end.

You might want to search "Cobra crash" on you-tube before you make a statement like that.
I've owned over a dozen Corvettes and still have one I bought almost 35 years ago. However, I do pretty much agree with you. You know why they say- "What's the difference between a Corvette and a porcupine? - the porcupine has the pr!ck on the outside".

Wow, thanks for the compliment.

P.S. I have more issues ("Hey, let's race!") with the turbo Mitsubishi's/Subaru's and the Mustang crowd than fellow 'Vette drivers. Wouldn't trade my 'Vette for any other daily driver...every commute is a blast. Too bad that the OP had a bad experience with one of the bad apples.

Actually, as a New York lifer, as bad as NY can be, I am not aware of any speed cameras. I live on Long Island, and I've never seen one. Then again, around here, with the infamous NY "attitude" they'd probably have a usable life of a day or so before someone blew the hell out of it with a shotgun. See.....that attitude that makes everyone a bit uncomfortable comes in handy sometimes.

Oh, man, that is LOL funny.
It doesn't always need to be a 'Vette challenging the Cobra. Some cars egging me on, I look over, politely smile, and think to myself, "Oh, you can't be serious..."

Actually, I think Mercedes drivers should be in the same category.
You buy a AMG-Whatever and people begin to think they're Helio Castroneves (2009 Indy 500 winner).

Why do they always feel threaten?
I'm just rolling along and all of a sudden someone else feels that I need to prove that they are slower than me. Really...

Plenty of real nice Corvette people around. Plenty of a$$holes too, and they drive ALL kinds of cars. The Corvette driver you came upon probably felt threatened because he saw that you got more attention than he did. It happens all the time. He drives his car for the wrong reason (attention), and resents you because you took his 'stage'. This will undoubtedly cost him a few bucks.

There are alot of great cars guys in the bowtie crowd, but I hope we never stop razzing them, & vice versa. The rivalry is a great part of being a car nut.

Well let's face it, its a win-win for the other guy no matter what he's driving. If he taunts you and you reply and smoke him, he will go brag about how he was taken down by a venerable Cobra, (which of course he'll say was real and being driven by Ole Shel himself.) And if he beats you, he'll go brag about that too.
I am learning quickly to smile and shake my head "no" because everybody wants to run 'em.

I just wave, no matter what they say. I've actually had Vette drivers wave at me in my Cobra.

I think I came across the same guy a couple of days ago. I was in my SPF southbound on Dobson turning left onto the entrance ramp to the 202 eastbound in Chandler. This guy in a newer black vette just south of Pecos on Dobson sees me and comes up really fast right onto my tail as I turn onto the entrance ramp. I get on it, like I always do when entering the freeway when no one is in front of me, and pull away from him as I entered the freeway at a steady 70 mph. He then comes up next to me on the freeway and revs his engine (with loud pipes) like he wants to race -- and we're already doing 70. Not gonna happen, street racing is for self-centered knuckleheads. I smiled at him and waved and took the Arizona Ave. exit I was planning on taking. End of story. Lesson learned here is when I saw him agressively come up on my tail I should have known there was testosterone involved and v-e-r-r-y slowly entered the freeway in order to telegraph my no street racing intention. But dang, sometimes it's just so hard to resist the temptation to pull away from a vette driver with an attitude.

Sometimes a little emotional control can go a long way... in this case save you lots of $$$$ that you could spend your FFR. - - - not that it needs it.
