Arntz hood shaped for distributor clearance

The earliest photos that I am aware of show the Arntz with the hood protruding into the cowl (as per the shot of Donunder's car below), allowing distributor clearance for Chevy powered cars.

Was this hood design the first option, and then did the shape change to the regular hood shape?

Any idea of which year or sequence the different hood shape was offered?

Is it generally accepted that the regular shape bodies were significantly thinner/lighter bodies?

So many questions!
