If you're not into building a car particularly and want to buy a "pre-loved" example, there are two that I know of that you'd be very happy with:

1) Spookypt's black Harrison powered by a strong Lexus motor. Absolutely stunning car, looks and sounds wonderful.

2) Phil Neall's Chev powered CR. Super quick, proven performer. The Classic Revival kits are highly regarded, and this particular car is a standout at the Nationals every year.

They're both black and neither has the Ford power you're leaning towards but they are both terrific cars, complete, proven, registered and ready to go. Good luck trying to choose between them!

Thanks for the info . It's a funny thing, but I would almost feel more comfortable with a Lexus than a Bowtie . JAP over Yank .Old habits die hard .......... As the Mustang blokes say "Hoof beats are louder than heartbeats"

After giving it some thought ,I'm leaning towards something that's been started but the owner has ,for what ever reason ,decide not to finish it . Is that likely ?

I got mine as an abandoned build, they come up fairly regularly - mostly with gear that will not pass compliance because - for one reason or another - the build has taken longer than anticipated and the owner/seller does not have the warewithal to see it through under changed conditions.

Generally the sales literature will assure many things

- do your sums.

Thank you LoBelly Thanks good info .

So given LoBellys advise ,does anybody out there have an unfinished project they desperatly trying to unload at give away prices ??

OR as another very helpful member suggested ,(Thank you Cameron) does anybody have a car that's a bit untidy or knocked around they might want to dispose of at the right odds??

AHHHH thankfully dreams are free !!

Spook - what is this Project you hint about every so often.

I'm down your way in a couple of weeks time to soak up the noise!

I'll call in and pry open those garage doors to see for myself

Good luck LGC in finding a 2nd hand Cobra for sale (if thats the way you eventually go).

Most Cobra's are for sale (for the right price - mine included), but I doubt you'll find a "reputable" one for less than $50k.

My choice buying one in QLD - A Harrison - looks a bigger car than a DRB and the back end (from the side) looks more in proportion

Old School - RMC

Ask Les - his car is as old as him (and still hasn't been painted).

Thats the only reeason I'm keeping mine - waiting for Les to finish his and then cross the Pelican Bridge in tandem

Keep searching!

LGC

LoBelly is right on the mark!!

The numerous years of research I did before I was near having paola to buy meant that when I did look at the many unfinished kits I knew what I was looking at, that the pricing was good, bad or indifferent and what else the kit needed to get finished.

My kit got advertised three times dropping $3K between ads till I went in and offered a shade less again and bought it. Even mine was not quite all the bargain I thought I'd get but it did allow me to get into a car which is the aim of the exercise.

Spend time doing the research like you really are looking to build from scratch and aside from helping with the initial kit, the information will come in handy later on.

Best of luck.

For $55K, it's pretty good valve IMHO. Hardtop, softtop, s/charged Lexus V8 (just waiting for more boost) 4 speed auto (will drive nicely).

If it rocks your boat, go check it out
