Default Cobra or Cohbra ?

Some say Cohbra (sounds like "covert") and others say Cobra (sounds like "cobber"). What is the general opinion ?

My friends who are either Canadian, English or Sth African all say Cohbra and regularly take the piss out of the way we say Cobra. So I've decided they're not getting a ride in my COBRA!

All those vowels and diphthongs! US East Coast, West Coast, UK, Aussie and even German. This debate could be endless.
