Default Does anyone know how hot jag hubs get?

I am going to paint my rear jag hub carries with Glisten PC now that i have finished polishing them. The Glisten is good up to 180deg C i am told by the manufacturer.

Does anyone know roughly how hot these get? I cant see it being all that hot as the brakes aren't near the hubs, but i imagine the friction in the bearings will generate a decent amount of heat.

Has anyone touched the their jag hub carriers after a decent drive?

Cheers.
Liam

I painted mine with Dupli-Color silver engine enamel three years ago and they are still in fine shape. I would not worry too much.

Thanks for the reply,

Engine enamel is good for about 260deg c or (500deg f). So its going to handle more heat.

If your shims are correct and your bearings are packed properly the housings will stay cool.

If your Jag hubs get so hot that it blisters paint then you have bad bearings or heat from exhaust that should be corrected as you will boil grease in hubs and have failure at some point in time while driving.

A bloke I know built a Pro street XD. you know all engine and bling. He painted the block the same colour as the car, the same paint. I guessed it would go brown....It didn't !
I painted my foot well heat shields with glisten and the bare headers are about 2" away. It hasn't turned brown or peeled yet. I'll get the headers ceramic coated soon before I run it more.
