Need some advice

HI Guys,
Havn't been to active on forum of late, but I can now tell you that my chassis is now under way. This weekend I will be putting the front end back together with new bearings & bushes [ Jag' ] So my question is should I use the std blk rubber bushes or the cheaper Nolathane ? The 2 Jag' dealers say dont use Nolathane as they will sag & drive like a Go Kart. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Depends on what your going to use the car for, your mate is right, they will wear out faster, but they will also tighten up the front end.
If your building teh car for street use, I think your better off with the rubber joints.

Having owned a Jag and rebuilt the front end I would agree, rubber over urethane. However that's a 2 ton car with a plush ride. A cobra is a 1 ton car with a sporting ride. I'd go with urethane bushes in the Cobra. The car is half the weight and won't pound out the bushes like the heavy jag would.

Thanks Boxhead & Aussie Mike for your feedback on the bushes. I ended up going rubber & bought them today.I think it will be more of a cruiser than a track car.

Hi Daz,

I have just gone through the task of re bushing the front end of my cobra. I used a medium softness Urethane supplied through Jag Spares here in Melbourne. (These are not the Nolathane brand). I chewed through a set of rubber bushes in a very short time ~ 2 years, but I think the track work did most of the damage.

In comparison the urethane has been the best thing I have done to the cobra. The ride softness is exactly the same as it was with the rubber bushes (It would be very hard to tell the difference), but the steering is now far more precise. You can an even softer set of urethane bushes from "Lovells" suspension components (www.lovells.com.au). They have three grades of urethane.

If you buy the rubber bushes, which appears you have already, make sure they are genuine OEM rubber replacements (They will cost substantially more). The cheap rubber copies are just no good.

Hi Tony,
I think they are genuine the brand is URO Parts they have the yellow dimpled plates inside them. I think I will leave it as it is until I put it on the track,which will be some time away yet.
