Congrats Warren, It would appear that the Maroons cleaned up again. Well done Pete Hancock and all you other Cobra/GT40 people that competed and did really well.

The secret stuff Dave is refering to is a 4 speed top loader with Jag susp & brakes on 15" Hoosier tyres so pretty old school

No in car cameras from the Cobras and GT40s, but here is a very good one from the inside if a 2001 Z06 Corvette.....and he's chasing a very quick canetoad...Wayne Proctor ..in his Cobra.
Wayne did him by about 5 seconds.

Good Stuff !!

Some were on to me about how the LS7 in the corvette in that film clip, couldn't keep up with the Windsor 347 stroker that Wayne's car has.

Mind you...Wayne's car is an absolute flyer.....But I believe the 2001 Corvette, had a 5.7 ltr. 385 hp power plant

The LS7 is a bit stronger than this with 505 h.p.....and this is how it pushes a Corvette along....

AWESOME...should go well in a light weight Cobra !

Default I'm confused..

Can someone please clarify as I'm confused... (which is easy I know)

Slicks?? I thought slicks for this event were a NO NO and it was DOT rubber only???

Race Cars?? I thought this event was for registered or registerable cars only?? Seems in the staging pics there are a fair few cars that would do well to pass as a road car??

Did the goal posts shift post entrant closure?

Will race cars be allowed next year???

SpookyPT

Yes Matt the goalposts were moved on us a few times,

We found out after all buying DOT tyres that other teams (Porsches etc) were all allowed to run slicks,

so we asked if we could as well..

We were told we could as long as we had a wet weather set available,

or be prepared to sit in the pit all weekend if it rained...

Which is a fair chance at bathurst...

As soon as its Raining they declare the track Wet and no slicks anyway...

98% of the cars down there for the Fosc Regularity were of the road registered variety,

with a few exceptions which may have just carried over from the Saturday/Sunday race events,

George V for example only did Sat/Sun to my knowledge...

The event was heavily subsidised by the various Porsche clubs
(280+ cars I think)
And without them there the event would not have run......

So they had some influence over the event too I guess...

I suggest if you want to go next year Send your money up front and enter like we all had to and hope you get in.

Fantastic experience!

Peter..

That 240Z was flying. Pretty good effort for a 1970 model car and it sounded like it was still running a 6 too. Anyone get any times for it?

I think the vette probably would have run a bit quicker if he'd shifted to 5th in a few places. He was holding it on the limiter at about 220 in 4th on Conrod. Must be a bit nerve racking at those speeds.

Cheers

For those that didn't come --you missed a great weekend
From the Shelby family:-
6 Cobras mostly from Qld
6 GT40s
and a Daytona Coupe

Felt a bit like an expectant father waiting for the red Cobra to reappear again after each lap --its a long sub 3 minutes.
Sat arv. saw some overtime repairing a seized oil pump and sheared dizzy pinion -- the oil pump pick up strainer rattled loose and a metal shard off it stuck in the pump. POS -- a bit dissappointing after only 200,000 + klms. Otherwise all smiles, only the Dizzy and starter left to fix
Ps recommend the track hotel (Citigate) for the stay over

Here's a great video..
a REALLY quick Lotus Honda belting around Bathurst over the Easter Weekend.

The screen includes all of the info ...gears , speed, brakes, etc. etc.....and he's chasing down Iian Pretty in his GT40.

Takes a while to download, but it's well worth it.

http://www.vimeo.com/10666444

I'll have to watch this a thousand times before I step up my go next Easter.

Cheers,
Warren

Default Great Noise

Wazza,

I remember that car, it sounded awsome and went like the clappers,
anyone that can keep up with Mr Pretty is doing Bloody well.

Why does it look so easy on DVD/TV to go fast around there

Great Video, Tim (the driver) is a mate of mine. He owns the Australian licence to build and sell road registered versions of this race car.
He and his brother (Dave) have entered into the Australian GT production series this year.
A couple of things you may not have noticed on the video, he actually won the race passing the GT40 (caught knapping) on the last lap and it also shows George Vidovic's broken race Cobra on the side of the road at the start of conrod on the final lap.

Video of John doing a few laps in his RCR-40 that weekend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlF0J6DPkYg

Sorry for the sound quality, ended up with a terrible intermittent noise appearing in the sound track. It’s the exhaust note, changing in volume abruptly, but sounds like there is a mechanical noise from the GT40. Not there is my copy, YouTube introduced it during their processing on upload.
