Blacktop is their version of Chassis black

Not tried it myself tho.
I've used it on my diff centre, and it came up a treat. A 250ml can goes a bloody long way too

Found out the KBS reseller is 950m from my house. So I bought a 500m tin of RustSeal in Gloss Black for $39.

The difference (I was told) between RustSeal and the Blacktop is the Blacktop has UV balancers in it. Seeing as it's under the car I don't think it's going to see a lot of sunshine...

Pic's when it's had a couple of coats.

Yep, It's expensive stuff but that 500mil will go a long way.

Hey Rebel,

I've done two coats already and there is heaps left. It's great stuff and paints quite thin. I'm using a brush and it shows no streak marks.

A trick for young players, wear rubber gloves, I've got a couple of bits on my forearms and it's like a tattoo. This stuff does NOT come off... I'm painting in my garden shed out the back so if I get it on the floor or the walls the wife won't see it.

Apparently you can hit it with a hammer when cured.

I have found that those foam brushes from the hardware store also work well to apply it with.

I sprayed mine, and then used the brush in a small bracket. The only difference was that the brushed paint had a few small spots of dust in it. Amazing how well these products flow out.

Post some pics when your done.

One day I'll tell you about a young fella who wore the gloves but found he needed a wee half way thru the job .... ended up with black finger prints all over his pecker which took a month to wear off.

His wife wouldn't let him near her for that month.

Yep, it sets very hard ( not unlike gloss powder coat ) and is the reason you should mask all your seal faces. It will migrate under a seal and will damage that seal very quickly.

If his wife wouldn't let him near how did the paint "wear off"?

Mike, up here in the Sunshine State, snakes shed their skin every now and then.

Possibly as often as that Rebel1 gets his share ... every now and then.

Guess I should introduce myself.

I own an RMC with a carby 302/toploader and have owned it from the beginning of time. It was built when RMC was the only cobra kit approved in Queensland.

I'm an auto refinisher by trade and do a bit of glass work as well.

They do that down here as well. You see loads of them in the gutter round Saint Kilda on a Sunday morning.

Welcome Glenn, good to see ya found the site.

Being a fellow North Brisbane fella separates you from some of the southside riff raff who frequent this place.

Getting harder to keep those southsiders in their place given the second gateway is now open

Glenn, I don't even get it every now and then. Maybe every leap year ......... if I'm lucky.

Glenn, you're a little too modest saying "Do a bit of glass work as well"

I've seen the feather weight carbon bonnet and boot lid you made for one of your clients.

That stuff takes some doing.

There we go. All done ready to be bolted in. The brushmarks are not visible and that is some serious gloss...
