Lightbulb Roll Bar Kits

Hi All,

I bought a tube bender a few years back and used it to make my rear suspension arms. It produces nice bends but after the suspension build I haven't used it a lot. I've got a project for it coming up but that's still some time away.

I've been thinking about making up a few stainless steel or chrome molly roll bar kits for Aussie Cobras. The kit would be in 2" x 3mm wall polished stainless or plain chrome molly tube. The thicker walled tube would be strong enough to provide some decent roll over protection, it wouldn't be just cosmetic. It'd be 13" between centers on the hoop
(I believe traditional is 12" but I'm at the mercy of the dies available).

The kit would include a 3rd leg with a slip joint to facilitate getting the thing in and out of the body holes. It'd be machined with a fish mouth on the end of the tube ready to weld to the main hoop when all lined up. I could do it pre-welded to as or weld it after as required.

I reckon I could produce a good quality kit at a reasonable price but it'd be nice to see how much interest there is before I drop a big pile of cash on the 2" bending die. I can currently do one in 1 1/2" tube as I already have the dies. I believe traditional was 1.5" but it looks too skinny to me. Also I think 1 5/8" is minimum requirement for CAMS etc.

Cheers

Improving my roll-bar configuration is on the To-Do list and will be in touch with you.

Sounds like a great project for the new production line at Aussie Mike Industries! Unfortunately I recently had mine made up, otherwise I'd be in line.

I'm doing the air springs on the Disco on Sunday, drop in for a beer if you're over this way.
