why would you 316 st stl over 309 st stl ,when welding a carbon steel to stainless.
316 were the only rods available. Still fine for the combination, just a little more expensive than 304 or 309. I have a friend who runs a custom fabrication business. He uses the combination on boats quite often without any problems.
