Im now the proud owner of an LS3! Just picked it up this morning.

Its one of the ex HSV that was replaced for the W427. Apparently they pulled them out after they rolled of the production line and replaced them with the LS7. Been sitting in the crate for about 12 months waiting for a new home.

Very exciting to have a brand new motor. If i can get the GTS tune, should produce an easy 325kw ATFW in stock form. The motor has everything except throttle body and includes the clutch.

Another step closer!!

Just be careful when buying a throttle body.

IF you get a factory throttle body the colour of the blade will determine the ECU you will need to run.

Silver means early (2006,2007,2008)
Brass means late (2009,2010)

Thanks Doubledip,

I will do some more investigation when the time comes. I saw on the LS1 forum you guys were having trouble with an LS3 boat throttle body. Was that due to a new throttle body with old ECM? Can i use an LS2 TB instead?

Yes. We tried an old ecu with a ls3 throttle body and tried tuning the problem out. But no luck with the tables available at the time in the software. Just swapped the throttle body with a early type Ls2 l98 early l76 early. As long ad silver blade will all work with older ecus
