Hi Gregg,
I've admired your CR for a long time, What brand/ size are your wheels ?

Re: Eng/trans/diff, i'm thinking LS7, (mainly due to 427ci) with a custom manifold, 8 runners into 2 throttle bodies mounted like big hollies' with the 2 chrome 8in filters.
T56 trans, 3.45 lsd etc etc.
I think the engine choice may depend on what hoops i have to jump through, hence i need to chat with an engineer shortly, there's some well priced L98's going at the moment around the traps.

I'm building my list of questions, what springs / shocks / brakes (VE or after market like AP, Wilwood), did you use, how do you find the ride. ?

I luv the way my paint came out - was just down the street at the pool shop near car city and the guys at the car yard wanted to trade me their whole car yardfor it.

I am in Croydon so the right side of town for you if you want to come and have a look first hand (one of the other CR builders likes to do this) or once the weather gets better I would like to come down to you for a cruise (any excuse).

My wheels are the halibrand replica's from OZWHEELS - Ian from CR uses them as well. I found them reasonably priced and the best thing is the offsets and stud pattern are all correct as I just said I want a set for the latest CR. Nothing in the USA matched what I needed, especially the stud pattern as the VZ/VE stud pitch is European based GM not US based GM.

I reckon the LS7 would be a great option, bear in mind you need to be a stock as possible for engineering. Although now with the new emmission IM240 test you have more flexibility, your engineer canadvise.

My lowly stock 5.7L LS1 is plenty for me.

Although I reckon the 3.45 diff is a little too tall, a 3.7 might be better. Plenty of them on holmart.

My brakes are stock (for the moment) but I put in high coefficine t friction pads as there is no vaccuum assist, just dual master cylinders. Might go an upgrade next year. Shocks are AVOs - had a leaking one after 12 months and had to replace it. Also put Eibach springs on the rear as the original ones were too low.


The ride is very good - a lot better than I expected.

Anyway enough rambling - gotta go mow the lawn to earn some brownie points.
