Looks a beast!

Warwick tells me that the latest Ford Coyote V8 (http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...25761D0031161D ) is now Cobra ready at less than $16,000.

$16000

My LS3 crate motor was $7950. The Coyote looks like a great motor but thats a lot of dough for a 5ltr.

True but like the LS series they will come down and a new Ford will be available again for those so possessed.

Not sure how you get to AU$16k.

US$6500 for the 412HP engine
US$1600 for the controller kit
Plus the accessories.

We already use the GM controller kit and it is fantastic.

It certainly already feels like Ford is going after the crate engine market more seriously by adding that controller kit etc to it's product line immediately. I certainly hope so.

I am already supporting this engine for RCR kits. I think it will make a big impact for guys wanting to put modern ford engines in their Cobra's and GT40's.

And then there is the Supercharged version.

With Ford Australia releasing it here next month int the Falcon, it will be huge.

Very interesting Craig. That price is what I was told - maybe that included g'box, etc.

However, your price makes it cheaper than the LS models then. If I need a new motor in the future - that will be it! I agree it will be a massive move in the market.

Merv, yes, that local price probably did include gearbox and all accessories.

Plus my pricing is direct from the USA.

If you compare USA pricing, the LS engines are still slightly cheaper and have more HP. Both the crate engines and controller kits are cheaper from GM. The local pricing should reflect the same, an LS engine will be slightly cheaper than the Ford. It all depends how price competitive the Ford engines get and I'm hoping they get more competitive.

Back to the top of the thread the 1UZ has been put in several aircraft.

The new 5.0 from Ford is an awesome engine capable of massive hp. Ford have released it right at the bottom of it's potential to allow for future power upgrades. With the $ the way it is now it would have to be a must have for any new cobra builder.

The LS engine is still an awesome value power pack too but starting to get left behind as far as vvti technology goes. I do remember seeing a while ago some aftermarket dual overhead cam heads for the LS engine.
