T-56 Master Cylinder Size
Would like to know what master cylinder sizes everyone is using for their LS\T56 combos and recommendations.
Cheers

I'm trying to be helpful, but I'm not sure you are speaking of the clutch master cylinder. ASSUMING you are, and that it drives a slave cylinder that moves a clutch fork, here is some info that may help. The amount of movement of the clutch fork end (where the piston from the slave cylinder engages it) is related to movement of the clutch pedal by the following formula.
t = D x D x T / d x d
where:
t = lenght of movement of the slave cylinder piston
D = diameter of the master cylinder
T = length of movement of the master cylinder piston when the pedal is depressed
d = diameter of the slave clyinder
To get T, I'd need to know how your clutch pedal is configured (e.g., distances from pivot to pedal, pivot to piston mount, pedal movement before engagement, full pedal travel and position of the pivot relative to the MC piston end).

I'm using the stock throw out. I use a 3/4 inch mastercylinder with a wilwood floor pedal system which if I remember correctly has a 6.6 to 1 ratio. I have this set up in 2 cars and works very well. Speedway motors has a premade clutch line with a 4AN fitting on one end and the factory quick release fitting on the other that simply snaps into the factory throwout line.

John,
That got me excited, went to Speedway, but couldn't find it? Do you know the part number by chance?
PS. GOT THE WILDWOOD Pedal set up in my hand, not meaning to be negative in anyway but your ratio guess is very close...actually it is 6.25:1 ratio.

I don't remember the part number off of the top of my head. Sometimes, now, I barely can remember my name! I will try and get the part number for you. I am in the middle of moving and most of my stuff is packed up. I believe it is their street rod catalog. It's a cool and cheap part.

I am using a wilwood 7/8 cylinder. The clutch pedal sits a little high with the datsun 120y pedals I have, 1" may have been a better choice due to slightly shorter stroke.
For fluid line I went with 1/4" synflex hose. The fitting to go from 1/4 hose to the willwood m/c can be as dear as $95, so I modified the fitting to the next size up, that reduced that fitting price to $14.
On the HTBO end I added a 1/8" BSP adapter about 1 inch long, then a 1/8 x 7/16 JIC nipple in it to take the hose. The 1/8 x 7/16 nipple just pokes out of the side of the box and the line can be connected / removed without having to drop the box.

5/8" no good!
Just found out that Toyota Hiace 5/8" X 30 mm stroke is just a tad too small, I will attempt to get it bored out to 3/4", that will lift the volume by 30-40% if my maths are right.

Stumpy, found your clutch post.
What Is 5/8 In mm? 15.875
15.875 x 30 mm = 23761.473214285692
3/4 in mm is 19.05 in your modded cylinder x 30 mm stroke = 34216.5214285714
7/8 in mm is 22.225 mm
Wilwood 7/8 dia, 1.2 inch (30.48 mm ) stroke yields 47317.64729999997
1 inch is of course 25.4 mm for our needs, I think the wilwood 1" is also 1" stroke which would be 25.4 x 25.4 = 51502.2011428571.
results are in cubic millimetres as per calculator at http://www.online-calculators.co.uk/...ndervolume.php
If you have limited pedal throw go for the 1" type, will be a bit heavier naturally, 7/8" gives a good pedal and got the resistance I like. Some nissans had a 7/8" dia but not sure of the stroke I went for the known quantity. Getting sick of buying multiple parts/ running upgrades.
You do the maths. (facepalm) been done for you

Tenrocca, what's wrong with the Holden factory master cylinder? Mine's VZ Commodore and I'm using a Mal Wood braided flexible line and remote bleeder setup.

Im sure nothing is wrong with it. Just that CR set up for Wilwood or Tilton and I have a 1" in there at the moment and was looking for an idea on whether that was a bit much.
Cheers

Sambo, I've never heard of a remote bleeder. Could you post some pictures of the setup please? I'm really intrigued.
Regards.

That's the one Geoff. Here's the exact pic showing the remote bleeder attached to a lug on the side of the box with a bleed nipple at the end. The longer braided line goes to the clutch master.
