Default Somebody's got a new award winning toy!

G'day all.

Just thought I'd share a couple of quick snaps I'd taken of Stef's new award winning toy. It also gives me a chance to see if Flickr image codes give better results than the photobucket ones that I'm used to.

As you can see Stef's the proud co-owner of a 1970 Cuda, that is just out of this world.

We managed to squeeze in a handful of pics on our way back from the All American day at Castle Hill. It was all a mad rush as Stef had a prior engagement, hence the lack of a preferred location and having to shoot off road.

If anyone can think of any cool locations, industrial or automotive inspired (service/gas stations) I'm all ears.

Oh yeah, it won it's second award today!

Perhaps the big fella can fill us in on the car's details?

Thanks for letting me tag along mate!

Cheers.

Steve.

Hi Merv.

Thanks mate, I have the feeling that Stef looked cranky because it was a second placed award!

On a serious note, he can use this image as an RSVP or Matchmaker profile pic. We know how much the ladies love a bad boy!

Default Thanks Steve!

Thanks again Steve, your pics always look awsome!

The car is a 426 Hemi with a 727 Torqueflight and a Dana rear, the cam is way too big and makes it a pig to drive around town! Next step would be to fit a milder cam and go back to the 2 x 4s. The engine is a date coded block and I'm not too comfortable reving the thing past 6000 rpm to get it going! It's a detuned Nascar motor and wants to be run HARD! I just keep thinking about the dollars if anything breaks!

Had fun today and it got a heap of admiration, nice getting the thing out in the sun, I've had it since Jan 26 last year and it's only the second outing!

Thanks Ben for the call and giving me the great news and for picking up the trophie, nice to know the car is appreciated.

Stef

Looks great. The photo does a great job of showing the shape of the hungry grille.

Where did you find water thats not brown? Is it photoshopped blue? lol

Great car.

Stephen, without giving away too many secrets, you should give us all a few pointers on taking good Cobra/other car photos. A bit like this one does maybe:

G'day Merv, no real secrets and am happy to share some of the process.

In regards to the Cuda shoot, despite having my gear in the boot in the hope of a full on shoot, time got the better of us. What this meant was that we couldn't locate a glamour location that didn't have too much traffic, as well as an interesting yet not too distracting background. The one thing I really didn't want to have to do was take the car on to the grass, however due to it being a public road there was little other choice.

Being very sunny at the time, I chose to have Stef face the way he did to reduce the length of the shadow in front of the vehicle. This obviously means that the grill and front of the car was also in shadow and had no detail at all. I compensate for this with multiple portable flash heads and wireless trigger system.

I also used a circular polariser to combat the glare and reflection of the windscreen, which as a result also over saturates the colours in the background. I also had another wireless flash inside the car to give some extra detail.

That's really it, the rest is a bit of tidying up in photoshop, however since editing isn't my greatest strength, not a lot was performed.

In a perfect world I would know of, and have access to more suitable locations in future.

This was only the second time I'd used the portable package that I've got, with the first test results below. You may notice that it is the same location of Stef's No.96 magazine shoot, which in fact I chose on behalf of the pro photographer.

The struggles I faced during the first test was quickly fading light and constant traffic being a public road. I had to have the owner of the car constantly moving my flash heads every time a car came past.

It's all part of the learning process, one which will hopefully see me improve over time.

Cheers.

Steve.

That is good Stephen. Having some hard industrial structure in the background does help too.

Great work Stephen.

Joel, our son want to get a large photo done of Bert our 13 window Kombi to hang on his wall.

So we need to get a shot done large enough to produce a print say 1200 x 2000mm.

How much would it be to get a picture taken cleaned up ready for printing?

You can PM me if you like.

Phil

Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it would be interesting to have thread on "the best photograph of my car".
