Exclamation Good Luck With The Storm

Just wanted to wish all of you good fortune during this big storm that you have coming into land today or last night. Boy, with the flooding and all you have really taken a beating lately.

Anyway I wish all of you and your families and friends all the best and may you come through this with no bad problems.

Bernie, you had better drive that car fast

Ron

Ditto what Ron said. We've had some wild and wicked weather here in the states; today is especially bad with ice. BUT...doesn't compare. Godspeed to all of our mates down under.

This is our Katrina, but we are ready with early evacuations, emergency refuge centres and the Emergency Services and the Army all set to move. God willing ...

Our thoughts are with you. Please be safe. I saw on the news 186 MPH winds.

Take good care.

Dad is living in innisfail, I was in contact with him all night, the brunt of it missed them but he said it was louder than cyclone Larry a few years ago.
They have come through with only window damage, the neighbors stayed with dad in the laundry under matresses all night, he said they heard some big noises and thought the hose was getting torn apart. But this morning have been outside for a look and found the noise was a big rain tree (took 3 people holding hands to reach around it) has been blown away, not just over, but away, and it took the neighbors house with it.
They have been without power since 9.30 last night and he is cooking bacon, eggs and baked beans for everyones breakfast. Dad lives in a small suburb just put of innisfail and all houses are on half acre blocks, about a dozen families live there.

In Mount Isa we just had emergency alert message warning that YASI is still a category 1 expecting 120km/h winds. Most houses here were built around late 70s early 80s so they never expected cyclones to travel 750kms inland, could be interesting with these houses not seeing any winds like this before.

Thanks Ron (et. al.)

My mum and sister are in FNQ (Townsville) - now in tidy up mode and hoping for power - I will let them know or your good wishes.

Currently, they're both relieved that they didn't evacuate as those that did now cant get back due to road closures.

My wifes parents place is starting to flood in Innisfail now, water is backing up from the river (I am assuming drains are blocked) The water is just over ankle deep through the house.

Winds are starting to pick up, Radio stations are saying rain is expected to start around 2pm for us in Alice, and winds upto 100kph.
