Default 90 day rego.

Whats everyones thoughts on this ?
I have been trying to get a Cobra built for the last 18 mths,
Now i get told the seats i ordered that cost $2200.00 are not complient any more.
How many times do the goal post have to be moved before we give up?

I thought that you blokes in Victoria get 3 years to build the car to the ADRs current at the time you start?

You can probably pick up some monza seats that comply for fairly cheap. Look at what happened to Baz where he had is whole interior complete when the ADR came out.

I say hang in there, explore other options for rego and get through engineering - the car is worth so much more once registered.

Which ADRs have been changed and do you have any more info?

There hasnt been that much change.

ADR 3/03 for seats commenced in July 2008. That changed the seat height requirements to be 50mm higher than it was before.

ADR 5/05 for seat belt anchors also effects cars after July 2008 so this could impact some kits that have test results for anchors. Mind you that only effects NSW cause we are the only state that requires full testing (not even low volume manufactures have to do full testing).

ADR10/02 came out early last year with the requirements for head form testing on the steering wheel (ie collapsable boss). But from what i hear NSW is the only state enforcing it. There are no after market steering wheel and boss combinations tested to this standard including MOMO, Issota, Autotecnica, and SAAS. Also as all new cars have airbags they comply with ADR69 which makes ADR 10/02 not required.

At the same time there have been ADRs removed such glare reduction ADR and wiper ADR which was merged into general safety.

Sjelby,

What I would give to have seat heights as the only roadblock! You can buy a cheapish set for the street, and keep the other for show and track events. With the 90 day rego option as well (any cobras on this yet?) Victoria is a good state to be in at the moment (compared to nsw at least)

Cheers

Hi Tenrocca,
What is this 90 day rego? I am assuming it is similar to Club administered conditional rego for cars over 30 years old? Is it only available in Victoria?
What's the story?
Cheers,
Glen

Glen, yes that's correct, it's the old Club permit scheme but recently extended to replica vehicles.

Club permits : VicRoads

"Vehicles which are replicas of vehicles in the abovementioned categories may also be issued with a club permit."
