Wouldn't there be a recommended width in the instructions ?

They have recommended widths Rob by car type: sports sedan, compact, etc. But it is best to spend time with rhe columns beside the car measuring.

Guys, noticed with intrest this thread. Where can I get of these Max Jax lifts? Also my work ute has running boards. Do they come with any adapters so that the arms won't hit the boards first? Also they work off single phase or three phases?

MaxJax at Hendra Brisbane or I think in Melb too. If you can't find their site let me know. Single phase is all that's needed

I checked the price with Kevin (above) and after freight and tax, the Aussie deal with their good service was on par.
The only adjustment I have done since installing the system, is making some additional spacers for under the pads. The ones they come with are fine and there are some longer ones provided that you can add in. But I found that I wanted some that were about half as long as their spacers. Easy to make up and now all sit perfectly and it does not touch the side pipes. That car spends more time on the hoist now than it does on the ground! |

I checked out their website Workshop fitouts, workshop equipment, vehicle hoists, wheel service, brake testers — Levanta they seem like the real deal. looks like they do all types of gear for workshops. As you say if their service is good it's probably worth dealing with the locals. Thanks for all the info you've provided. |
Yes, the shipping over the pond would be a killer. My last price was around $1,875 but,..... would have to check. As long as you trust the company near your home, (which being a max dealer there's no problem) dealing with them is great.
The pads, are you talking the pad risers (extensions) to raise the pads higher off the arms ? I don't have any photo's posted of mine that's installed, I bought a new computer and trying,...to transfer them from a external hard drive. The damn thing only did a 1/4 of what I have ! GERRrrr.... |
Thanks Kevin, yes actually got onto the local dealer today in Brisbane.
They were extremely helpful. Went through the whole deal with me. Looks like I'm convinced on one. Just need to rake up a few coins over the next week or so and I dare say, I'll be enjoying a brand new MaxJax myself. Regarding the pads, yes, I'm talking about the risers or "extensions" so the guy at Levanta called them. I was just a little concerened that the actual arm might hit the running board of the ute before the pad reached the lift point. I think my concerns are gone though. The guy said it cam with a 3" "extension" and you can buy a 6" one as an option. Does anyone here actually have a photo of one of these "extensions' on their lift? |
The 3" extension will do you fine. I just wanted half of that to fully clear my sidepipes.

I have my cobra so low, that I use small ramps to drive the car onto, then the arms/pads will clear the side pipes. Since I only have a single stall garage and short ceilings, I love this lift. I just leave the columms bolted down all year and store the rest into a corner. I also have the motorcycle/ATV arms, not only for working on the toys, but I lay a sheet of plywood on the arms as a work table when needed, like welding, working on the lawn mower, household projects, ect...

That car MUST be low then Kevin. Mine clears to sill very easily with standard pad height with lots of space to spare.

Yep,....it's low. When I bought all new heim joints, shorter & softer springs and QA1 shocks, I lowered the stance and really like it now. Before, it was too high for my taste. I made two adjustable strut rods with heims, so I could measure the length of the springs needed and to adjust the final ride height I wanted. The worked out wonderful. I have a photo of them but can't load them to photo bucket yet, still setting up my new computer and software.

Ok, here is the strut rod with heims. Bolt them up to the shock mounts and twist the rod with your hand to raise or lower the height. I also put the cobra on 4 electronic scales and adjusted all four corners that are about equal now. The front to back is 51%/49%, with my heavy FE motor.

Nice work Kevin! There is a separate post on here about the QA1 shocks. They would be interested too. I can see the MaxJax in the background there - raised to avoid stubbing toes!

lol, yep, stubbed toe's from them and hot cobra tattoos from the side pipes. :eek:

Kevin I just had four made up in ally. Same as the extras provided but 2 inches high.
