MaxJax Reviews -US
Instead of hijacking Matt's thread further, and before I commit to buying this,
I was interested to see if any of our US Cobraphiles had experience of the MaxJax lift system (Max Jax Australia, Car Lift, Portable, Hoist, Levanta Workshop Solutions and MaxJax Portable Two Post Lifting System by Dannmar )? Meant for low (normal) ceilings and regular garages but giving wheel access. It is new here but has been in the US for a few years. |

Thanks Kevin. You seem to be happy with yours. How do the arms go fitting under your car? Mine is not that low at the side of the sills (135 F and 150 R or 5.3" and 5.9" - hmm should check that ..) so the height of the hoist arm plus pad @ 89mm (3.5") should be fine.

I have my cobra very low, so I use small ramps to drive on then move the arms under the car. Other makes might be higher, but it's not a issue for me. MaxJax has so many advantages over other brands.

That lift must be good to raise that 9.3 litre big block.

I can't imagine how much torque that must have ... What kind of chair did you find best for working with the MaxJax?

625 TQ. I have three different types. Creeper and two stools on quality wheels, one short & the other tall. Not that I need two of them as you can use the lift to the adjust height.

Those anchor bolts are huge. I also found that my concrete slab is 9" thick. You need at least 4" they say, but 5, 7/8 is ideal. Some of the newer slabs around here are full of polystyrene!@
Have bolted in the first column and done all the measurements with the Cobra and the other car to ensure that the lifting arms are in the best position. Will fix the other column tomorrow morning and then fill it up with AFT fluid. Seems I can leave both columns there and still park the other car. I can also remove the RHS column in less than 5 mins and wheel it over to the side of the garage. The system has lots of flexibility in fitting, very good instructions and videos and high quality bolts. hey merv sounds like they put thicken beams in your slab & you have found them to bolt too

Yes Rob, I seem to have a good slab. However, you really only need 4' of slab thickness. The instructions for the 5 bolts on each column are precise to ensure that the columns are parallel and equally spaced. I think I have it right. You also need a decent hammer drill, or hire one. The space between the columns is up to you. It is best to fit one column and then to place the car and see how the yellow arms position under the chassis rails/suspension points for lifting. Then do the other side, using the base plate of the columns as a template. There are suggestions for different car sizes in the instructions. I also tried the other car on there to make sure it fitted to.

All done! It lifts very well, is smooth and seems extremely stable. It can go higher than shown in these photos. Noticed that after I had taken them. The pads slip very easily under the side rails.
