Jamie, that looks like the current commodore blue that they use for some of the police cars. Nice looking colour.

It is interesting how many Cobras these days have metallic/flake paints. The original colours were all non-metallic and are rarely seen anymore as we go for more and more glamorous and exotic colours.

I was determined to have a non-metallic colour in grey, but weakened too.

Wasn't the 427 SC in guardsman blue ? It's metallic blue similar to the subaru tint.

Merv, I will not be swayed by the temptation of metallic (I've had moments of weakness). Do you know what colour the dark blue at the bottom of the picture is or is that black and my old eyes can't tell?

Mark

It looks similar, but obviously cant be sure.

Production vehicles are getting better with their colour options as the technologies improves but I have always had better luck from the motor cycle palet. If you go to your local automotive paint shop (i mean a proper automotive paint shop and not an autoparts shop) they should have some colour books you can look at.

Motor cycles have some pretty wild colours because there is not much required for a bike, the manufacturers can spend a bit more on it. Also a lot of the pearl and candy colours have problems with fading so car manufacturers avoid them.Take the books outside in the sun to get the best idea.

Worth going and having a look. You can get colours that rival the House of Kolor colours for half the price.

I believe that these were the original AC list Rob. That is the UK ones, mostly 289s.

Rob, "very cold weather" and "19 degrees" do not belong in the same sentence. Been down to Melbourne lately? I would kill for a 19 degree day right now

Has anyone ever seen a cobra in the tri-colours (chameleon) paint job?

Not a traditional look but with chrome accents would look really good.

There's one in the US that's powered by a Dodge Viper V10 that has chameleon paint on it. Looked pretty good at the time but the trouble with that kind of paint job is I reckon it will date over time. Kind of like murals on the sides of vans.

Cheers

I have seen a couple.

To be honest I do not think it suits, but does look cool.

Paul Gillis' built (Venom custom fabrications) one and it took out the show n shine at the Nationals a few years back. Powered by a twin turbo Lexus V8 it was a weapon. Number plates were 450KW..... Someone may even be able to post a photo or two about it.

I remember this car. Harrison kit? Yes?

Certainly not Classic in styling, but I reckon it looks awesome & is a super-effort.

This is one of the best non-original interiors I've seen in a cobra.

PS: you might want to have a quick look a at this link for blues

Blue Paint Choices

Back in the day Robert Logan showed me a GT40 (Roaring forties) that was painted in Dodge Viper blue - which just looked smashing!!! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos.

It may have been a custom mix with pear & metallic flakes?

You could check with the roaring forties website for an idea... but pictures are don't do it justice.

I'd love to see the Gt40 out in the sun. It is a very dark colour indoors, but you can see the blue poke through on the curves.
