Default new member/ for sale

G'day,

New to the forums!

I have a harrison cobra that i have been thinking of selling for a while (keep driving it and cant bring myself to sell it), but am not real sure about how to go about selling it as i want to avoid the tyre kickers etc.
Car has a vortech supercharged 2001 dohc 4.6 with h-beam manley rods, 11cc dished manley forged pistions, tremec t45 5 speed, nissan r32 rear end, american racing 18" halibrands, live side pipes etc. was thinking around 60k, but i am realistic.

I am in northern NSW.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

thanks

Joe

Dont undervalue your car. Registered in NSW and a newer generation kit (harrison), good colour. Ticks a lot of boxes - I reckon your starting way too low at the price mentioned.

Do you have the NSW engineering certificate for it?

I agree Joe, your price is definitely too low. Nice car with good looking wheels too. Is it the extended body Harrison? The live side pipes might be an issue, but if that is how it was registered ...

hi merv,

body is standard harrison, the dise pipes have another set of pipes that clip into the rear of the side pipes and then go under the rear guards with another set of mufflers, i took them off a day after i got rego- it sounds a lot better without them!

yep, on qld rego at the moment, nearly got it changed two months back, but decided to leave it in case someone bought it in qld- i will sell it with nsw rego if needed- apart from having to refit the tail pipes and possibly take off the supercharger, it wasn't going to be a huge deal.

I know it's difficult to see the quality of the build from 1 or 2 photos, but has the sun got to you up there? Sounds way to cheap. Would you have a house or even a daughter that you're thinking of selling? I could give you cash!

Regards.

Default Whats it worth

Interesting thread.
I also have thought long and hard about selling my Harrison. I have it stored and can't drive it.
Joe says he thinks his car is worth approx $60k. Joe's Harrison looks pretty good and is registered. However the Australian market appears to be saturated with many cobras for sale, most being in the $50k to $70k range.
Jo I would think $68k and be ready to negotiate.
I wonder if some of the guys on the forum are concerned their cars value to a buyer may be lower than they think its worth (normally the case).
I wonder what an Qld engineered, unregistered, unpainted Harrison would sell for.
Good luck with the process Jo. Its a nice looking car and must be a struggle to part with.
Bruce

Macloft, one of the pictures in your gallery shows some sort of pickup in the radiator hose that runs from the engine to the radiator, I was wondering what it was?

Regards.

What's between the tach and speedo? I thought it was the CAN comms port for your EFI, but obviously not.

I agree with others. A supercharged cammer, painted in an excellent colour combination and registered in Qld would sell for more than $60K.

Bruce, interesting question. While some would love the footroom that the offset Harrison throttle pedal and no clutch would allow for the big-footed gentlemen amongst us, others would baulk at the idea of an auto in a Cobra.

Some would love the idea of driving around in gelcoat while they sort the bugs out and are crawling under and over it getting things right for the first few months, then choosing their own colours. On the flipside, others would baulk at the idea of having to sort out a limited mileage car, having to disassemble it for painting, and paying the $8K to $15K for a paint job.

Stamp duty for the buyer is the same regardless of whether it's currently registered, so that's not factor. Tell ya what, I'll give you $10K per cup holder and we'll call it square ...and you're not allowed to retrofit something like this before your counter offer:

If I'm honest, I'm totally confused as to what people should be paying for a cobra in this country, particularly after the "
Give the Aussie Importers a Go " thread.

After that thread, I was under the impression that a good cobra could be had for $60K. $40K if you are as talented as Boxhead
(...unfortunately for me I'm not )

So logically, wouldn't one think that Joe has priced accordingly by saying $60K?

Certainly a good looking car, and truth be told, if I was in the market it would appeal to me & I'd think $60K would be on the cheap side.

I understand that build qualities can vary & its ultimately what people will pay, but me thinks I seem to be out of touch with what is fair price at the moment

JOE - Good luck with the sale.

I had a quick look cant see any cars less than 70k that are as desirable as Joes. In terms of desirability (for me at least) I would knock out all the autos, all the crown chassis G Force, all the drb's (I know - they go fast and can look very good, but I cant get past the body shape), anything that's not silver, cement colour, blue, red, or white - that would take out well over half those available before Ive even looked at one.

Cheers

Certainly looks like something I would be interested in if I didnt sink a couple of large into a new business recently.

But I would be a tad wary of the NSW re regoing process once a car has been regoed in another state...

My inquiries have revealed that is not that simple..but if it is....good news for us all!

Thanks for all the advice and ideas,

I am going to start down the nsw rego road this week and then advertise the car when I get it all sorted, I am sure someone from qld will buy it as soon as I get the nsw rego though!.
If someone wants it "as is where is" I would do a deal for sure.
Can anyone put me in touch with Warwick Harrison, I tried to call his shop and the number was disconnected.

Joe
