Hi,
New to this forum, just thought I'd drop in, say hello, and hoped someone could help shed a little light for me.
I'm part way through building a Dax de-dion cobra (
Kitcars Dax Cars the kit car manufacture of component cars) and am also in the process of migrating to Perth this year. It's my intention to bring over what I have, sourcing the remainder of the parts before I move and bringing them with.
I'm planning to get an old chevy engine, a small block - rebuilt and stroked to 383ci producing about 450bhp, and use side pipes. In England if the engine is old enough (pre July 96) it doesn't need catalytic converters, even if the chassis is only a couple of years old. Are there any regs like this in Aus? Would I need cat converters on any age engine? Are side pipes even acceptable in WA?
I've also read bits an pieces about needing immobilisers, etc. Is this the case with kit cars also, are there any other odd regs like this I need to check up on?
Any info would be really helpful so I can try to work out how different the regs are and whether it's worth me sourcing the parts here or in Aus, and even if it's worth me even trying to bring it over.
Cheers
Pete
